Friends of mine use this (or whatever it's called today) - they are *very*
light users. They tried to get online today and it would seem the access
number has changed - anyone know what the new number is ?

They are now called *Orange*

But what will they be called tomorrow ? :-)

All Dial-up Pay As You Go numbers start with the prefix 0844 or 0845
and are charged from 1p per minute.
The Dial-up Pay As You Go numbers are:
0844 058 7000/0844 056 4000 or 0845 079 6699

Thanks Gareth but I've seen that and tried those numbers. I think it must
be out of date because none of them work - in fact the last one shown is
the one they've been using for a few years.

That doesn't surprise me!
Their status page is as much use as a chocolate fireguard too. :-(
I've been trying to convert from their £27.99/month Unlimited BB to the
£19.99/month Unlimited BB with free UK & International phone calls.
At first they told me that I couldn't get BB...but after telling them
that I've been paying them for it for the past five years and am using
it as I speak, they changed their mind. As of today, and after 4 weeks,
I'm still waiting for their 'Livebox' and to convert to this new
package. :'(
PS I was one of the first to use *Freeserve BB* and was on their trial
for a couple of months.

checking that you are connecting with the correct dial-up number:
open Internet Explorer
click on the Tools menu and select Internet Options
click on the Connections tab
double-click on the Orange, Wanadoo or Freeserve account listed in the
box at the top of the panel - it should have the word [Default] after
it
in the 'Dial-up settings' section click on the Properties button
make sure that the correct number appears in the 'Area code' and
'Telephone number' boxes near the top of the panel. You may see the
number preceded by 1470 if you have enabled your Caller Line Identity
(CLID)
click OK, OK and OK again to return to Internet Explorer
see here.
