I've just had a look at the same area on Google Earth - fascinating!!

Yep!
I was also wondering how the Aerial View from a (small) Plane compares
with the View in web-search Earth...
& I reckon that View was taken looking about NNW (that's just to the
left of Due North).
The Circular Dome thingy seems to be the "Expo" Building, just North
of Cambie Bridge?
Here is the Lat & Lon of it...
Latitude: 49.276666
Longitude: -123.111666
If you bung them into web-search Earth (with the Options Set to Decimal
Lat/Lon Mode) it comes up, then Tilt the View down & you get almost
exactly the same View as Boo's Pic!
