Is there any way I can persuade FTM16 to open with the same person each
time rather than with the person whose details I last looked at, please?
I've searched all the menu options but I can't see anything that might help
me.
Cheers

I've also been looking at ways to do that - it's a bit awkward to try to go
back anyway.

By the way, if you go to File > Preferences > General (tab) > ...
and top right place a tick in "Use FTM classic colors", I think it
makes the "Family View" page easier to use - it's not so hard on the
eyes.
Try it and if you don't like it just go back and untick it.

I like it - much easier on the eyes.

I've added a few extra buttons to my toolbar and spaced them out better
too. I put *two* separators between each button as you can see here.
File > Preferences > General (tab) > (long button bottom left)
Customize Toolbar > add any extra buttons that you'd like.
To be honest I don't know why they don't have them all showing in the
first place because who only wants to be able to use half the options?
(that's a rhetorical question btw!) ;-)

I've not known it to Mike but the only way I can think of to get around
it is to always close it with that person's details on your screen.

That's what I'm doing at the moment. :-)

BTW. Did you know that you can have TWO FTM files open at the same
time?
Whichever of the two you close 'last' will be the one that opens up
next time though.

Don't really have a need to have more than one file open at a time - might
do later when I start splitting branches off the main tree.

It can be handy if somebody sends you their FTM file and you want to
pick out certain parts of it, rather than merging the whole lot.
