A few people I have spoken to say that we are not going to get winter fuel
payments this year, does anyone know if this is correct ?

I have been looking online, it appears that you had to fill a form in to
apply for it, I don't remember doing that before, I thought we just got it
automatically.

MCC...
Does this page help, Pat?

Thank you Mike, that clarifies it, we having a discussion in the supermarket
this morning with some people and they were adamant that we weren't going
to get it, the reason being that here in W.Yorkshire we have free bus travel
all day at weekends, and midweek after 09:30

Michaelangelo...
Here in Scotland we (over 60's) get free unlimited bus travel
throughout the country, and to Carlisle and Berwick-upon-Tweed 24/7

Look forward to receiving it then :-)

That is total rubbish for that reson , were do these tales come from ?;-))))

I got mine today Pat !! and no it is not correct, in my letter it said

Anyone over 60 should get countywide free bus travel and its not connected
in any way to fuel payments.
Southampton and fareham residents are the only ones i know if that only
allow free travel within the the city or town limits. (at least till 2008
when it becomes a nationwide free bus service)

Gareth...
I know! I have friends who lives in Chilworth on the northern outskirts
of Southampton and they cannot go a couple of bus-stops up the road to
the supermarket as it goes out of the City boundary. If they want free
bus travel they have to go in the other direction about 4 miles towards
the congested town centre to get to a decent supermarket (same bus
company too).

Were in the northeast corner of hants and can travel all over including
southampton and into adjioning counties so my sister who is in southampton
isnt best pleased. lol
Unfortunatley its practically impossible to get to southampton on the bus
from here but still handy for local travel there if we needed it.
We use our bus passes to places that are a pig for traffic and parking and
where we wouldnt normally choose to go.
Pity coach trips arent included in the free bus pass scheme and trains as
well then it would be great.

And since one newspaper today is forecasting a few wintry weeks with
temperatures as low as -14°C we might be getting the cold weather payment
too.

Troy's Human...
The Daily Express (Sigh).

"-14C in 'exposed' Highland locations" - not too unusual is it ?. Although
how they can tell this far ahead is mystery to me :-(

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Perhaps we got the English version of an Icelandic edition. :)

everyone will
get the payment before Christmas;-))))

Michaelangelo...
You only have to fill in the form for the first year you are eligible

I have just received a letter from the Pension Service to say my £200 Winter
Fuel Payment will be paid directly into my account in the next few days.

Jackie...
Got my letter yesterday FN but Ted has not had his yet, I think he gets
more this year as he is now 80!

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6...

address, bank details etc.

Payments are made between early November and 25 December.
