Been experimenting with Picasa's "Gift CD" facility.

Hmm, have to look at that
|
It does exactly what it says on the tin and makes a good job of burning the
selected photos onto a CD in slideshow format. The slideshow will w@rk on a
computer that doesn't have Picasa installed.

I also tried the Gift CD and it worked very well.

The only thing so far that annoys me in the program is the little green
arrows that appear on the thumbnails of photos that have been uploaded to a
web album. There doesn't seem to be any way to get rid of them apart from
signing out from Web Album but as soon as you sign in again, back come the
little green arrows.

If they only show up on the CD SlideShow when you're "Signed In"
to PicasWeb, can you not just compile the CD SlideShow without being
(i.e. while you're not) Signed in?
|
I've searched through the support forums for an answer and while I have
found plenty of people moaning about the "feature" there doesn't seem to be
a permanent cure :-(
Still, if that's the only fault then we haven't got much to moan about.

I know that the "Web Albums" that you can make using web-search Picasa
use "Templates" (which are stored in (Sub-Folders of) the
"web\templates\" Folder in the Picasa2 Folder in the Program Files
Folder - does the CD SlideShow thingy also use those (or similar)
Templates?
If so, maybe you can change (Edit) the Templates, so they don't show
the "little green arrows" that you don't want?
There's plenty of Documentation, with examples, explaining which bits
of the Templates do what (& how to Edit them) in the "Documentation"
Folder.
It might be worth while having a look through that, to see if there's
a way to get rid of those "little green arrows" that you don't want?
Alternatively, what about just Deleting (or ReNaming?) the File/Picture
that is the "little green arrow"?
Most of the Icons & things that Picasa uses are stored in the various
(Sub-) Folders in the Picasa2 Folder in the Program Files Folder
- But I just had a quick look though & couldn't see any which looked
like a "little green arrow" - so I'm not sure exactly what it is that
you don't want on the Thumbnails.
I was looking at web-search Picasa2 (Web) Version 2.5.0 (Build 32.95,0)
I dunno which Version you have Downloaded & are using (there seem to
be at least *2* different Versions available on the web-search/Picasa
Website).

I'm using that version.
The green arrows don't appear on the slides or on the thumbnails on the Web
Album but on the thumbnails of the pictures in my (Picasa) folders that
have been uploaded to a web album.
It's not a problem really, and in a way I suppose they serve a purpose
because they tell me which photos have already been uploaded :-)
