MCC...
Jerry Atrick pointed me to this site last night

BunnyHare...
Took three hours and all it found was temporary internet files
At least it is nice to know there are no nasties lurking

Being a Microsoft site it seems to only run under IE, and it takes a while
to do the job - like over an hour - but when you take into consideration
what it does, I suppose that's not too bad.

Saxman...
Only a free trial though.

MCC...
Windows Live OneCare is still in beta but I think the Full Service Scan is
the end product.

Better to use Trend Micro which is free.

MCC...
Does Trend Micro
Scan for viruses and spyware?
Scan and clean the registry?
Do a disk cleanup scan?

Ali...
Why use a website to do what Windows does itself?

Do a disk defragmentation scan?

Ali...
Why use a website to do what Windows does itself?

MCC...
Cos the website can do all of these things with one click - and I'm a lazy
bu**er :-))

Scan for open ports?
Provide computer information?

It didn't the last time I looked, but the Full Service Scan does all these.

Steve...
RoboForm users:

It found nothing on my machine but deleted all my RoboForm data approx
500Mb, as always I have a full backup of all my data and recovered very
quickly but could be devastating to those not prepared.

Frogman...
Yes one of the online antivirus/spyware scans (Panda I think) deleted
all of my e-mails *without asking* but like you I had a full backup so
was able to restore things.

Gareth...
Oh, hell's bells. :-(
I'd be really annoyed if it did that to mine. :-(

Frogman...
Indeed I was quite livid at the time :-@

Gareth...
And I was going to test my system with Panda too. I'll make sure that I
back up my emails if I do.

Aries...
now you know why I had your posts shown red then ;)

Frogman...
lol trust you :')

Aries...
I trust you too ;)

Frogman...
I'm glad you do, I don't trust myself at times ;-)

Aries...
Hmmmmm, you've got me thinking now ;)

Frogman...
lol, not too hard I hope :-)

Aries...
no chance ;)

Frogman...
Good cos I hate the sound of cogs grinding as they jbex ;-)

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Grinding? Surely not. If so a case for either 3 in 1 or WD40. :)

So the lesson is *always* have a full backup of everything before
running something untested by you.

Frogman...
sound advice Indeed.

Old Grizzly...
But it says i *must* uninstall Zone Alarm !!! no thanks ;-)

MCC...
That surprises me, Len. I've run the program on both my laptop and my PC,
both of which have Zone Alarm running, and no mention of disabling it or
uninstalling it was made.

Old Grizzly...
i thought it was a slight problem with Englisg LOL so i though ah it
means disable so i did but again it prompted in red to uninstall. I use
Zone Alarm Securiy Suite i wonder if its that?

MCC...
Possibly, Len. I just use the freebie ZA firewall and it was left running
because I didn't know any better :-)
