Yes, but that's in yours too - it's part of MesNews, it's not mine.

Go to C:\Program Files\MesNews\Config
and click on the "Smileys-std.arn" Notepad file and you'll see a list
of all the shortcuts to the GIF files.

I had a friend who couldn't get hers working at all so I ended up
'zipping' the whole of my MesNews 'plugin' folder and getting her to
replace that - then it worked!

Hmmm, perhaps I should do that again and keep the file on my external
hard drive so that I can send it to those people who want it without
them having to try setting it up themselves.

The problem is that I've got such a lot of unwanted junk in that folder
now that I don't know what is required and what isn't. :-(

Hmmm, I suppose I could take my own 'plugin' folder out and save it,
then put this new folder in and test it. If it works then I can zip it
up and then put my own folder back. ;-)

& what isn't, will it?

It may well still "work" OK, with umpteen un-necessary (& Confuzzling)
things in it.

Seriously, though, surely anybody who wants to start fiddling around
with fancy complicated things like other NewsReaders & X-Faces & PlugIns
& stuff like that *should* find out how to handle the basics of the
windoze Filing System, such as Folders & Files etc?

I'm sure half the probs that a lot of people have with all sorts of
aspects of using their PCs ate *because* they try to just UnZip
or Install something without having any idea about (or concept of)
what the various Files & Folders are.

Remember what Boo is always saying about how "Baby Steps" is the way
to do it & learning to walk, before trying to Run?

the basic ("Baby Step") things like Files & Folders.

Hey, I knew about files and folders :õ , I just didn't realise I had
to create one, doh, I was looking for one that was already there....
only it wasn't, lol

I'm trying to use Mesnews now.... gulp. There doesn't seem to be an
INI file in there, how do I tell the .GIF file to work? I wanted to
add a daisy smiley, I've saved the GIF to the Smiley subdirectory but
there doesn't appear anywhere to put the activation sequence (that
sounds good, but you know what I mean) :/

Even if you do get a smiley daisy GIF to work on your MesNews it won't
be seen by anyone else as a smiliy GIF unless they have it in their INI
file too.

btw. You could put different 'Daisy' pics in your 'faces' folder then
they'll all show up randomly.
