BunnyHare...
Went on a guided tour round Regency Cheltenham yesterday and learnt all
about the days when Cheltenham, or to give it its proper name of

Rabbit...
Looks like a lovely clean place and clean buildings and the garden looks
very colourful. Thanks for those Barb.

BunnyHare...
The gardens are very colourful. Apparently each spa water well had its
own gardens where the clients could rest and relax after taking the
waters. We mostly walked around the Montpellier gardens but there are
the Imperial and Long Gardens and Pitville Park
Don't think the photos did the gardens justice really as the sun was too
bright!

Cheltenham Spa, was a famous Spa town and people would come there to
take the waters. They are doing some work on the bore at Pitville so we
couldn't actually partake of the water:-)
Took a few snaps you might like to see. The wedding "car" you can see in

Troy's Human...
Thanks everso much Barb - they brought memories flooding back. I was born
in Cheltenham :-)

In picture 8 shouldn't it be "Cheltenham Ladies College" rather than
"Cheltenham Girl's College" ? Very posh place - it brings back many happy
memories from the 60's for me which I don't think I'll bore you with ;-)

BunnyHare...
Whoops, yes. The guide went on so long about this inspired lady who was
the first principal of the college and insisted that girls should be
educated that I forgot they are ladies now :-))

Thanks again.

the bottom right hand corner of picture 7 is unusual, isn't it?

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Lovely Barb.

biffo...
Thanks for showing them Barb they are very good photo's and descriptions, it
looks a beautiful place and very clean. .;-))

BunnyHare...
It is reasonably clean. Pretty pricey too. Saw a hat I might like for
our forthcoming weddings but at £125, I think not :-))

Wouldn't they let you take piccies of the GCHQ Headquarters then Barb, or
were thy all confiscated?

BunnyHare...
Well that isn't actually in Cheltenham Town Centre but even so I guess
they wouldn't be impressed if I went along there and took pictures

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
You might get a few days' free board and lodgings though! LOL

BunnyHare...
Now I never thought of that :-)

Jackie...
Lovely pictures Barb, some beautiful buildings.

BunnyHare...
There are, aren't there. I guess like most places we dash around doing
shopping or whatever and never take the time to look around. I
certainly saw more of Cheltenham on this tour than I would normally have
seen

MCC...
I enjoyed those Barb, thank you.

From my days in the R.N., when I seemed to do a lot of travelling by coach,
Cheltenham seemed to be a hub where we used to change coaches at some
ungodly hour of the night. Don't know why they chose Cheltenham because it
was always closed

BunnyHare...
Yes I remember about 40 years ago changing coaches at Cheltenham on the
way to Bournemouth and thinking there wasn't much comfort there for
travellers.
Now the hub seems to be Birmingham Bullring and that's not much of an
improvement

MCC...
Four years ago I travelled by National Express coach all the way from Truro
to Thurso via Glasgow and Inverness. Never again!

Rabbit...
That was never four years ago ???? Sheesh where did those years go :-(

MCC...
No! Sorry, it was only three years ago. September 2003. The painful memory
is ingrained in my derrière for ever more

Rabbit...
I still want to know where those three years went, it doesn't seem that long
either.

MCC...
Frightening, isn't it?

It's over five years now since we moved from Ramsgate back to Cornwall. I
just don't know where the days, months and years have gone :-(

We had to refuel at National Express depot in Birmingham - not the most
salubrious place to stop.
And as for the Bullring, it looked as though all the hubcaps found at the
side of the road had been collected and used to decorate the outside of the
building

pmj...
Well, what's wrong with using a Lanny (LandRover) as a Wedding
Car then? [*1]
:-)

Or did you mean the VW Beetle beside it?
:-)

BTW - It could be worse than a Land Rover...
It could have been a Hummer H2! [*2]

& here's the "Official" Hummer Site, rather than an
*Anti-*Hummer Site...

& for some more about them...

[*1]
Or a *Stretch* Hummer!!!

[*2]
On the subject of "Strange"(?) Vehicles, my Parents have said that
(when the time comes) they specifically want to be taken to the
Crematorium in a Mitsubishi SpaceWagon!!! - Preferably theirs.
:-)

A Mitsubishi SpaceWagon is the sort of Car that they have had for
the last 15 Years or so...
They've had 3 or 4 of them & they are *brilliant* Multi Purpose
Vehicles!

They can carry 7 people (6 Passengers & the Driver) - even elderly
("less abled") people, who my Dad does a lot of "Ferrying around" for
or tall people, like me & my Kids.

& it also act as a very capable Estate Car-cum-Van, yet is very much
smaller & more practical than most typical "MPVs" (which don't actually
have as much room inside, or are as versatile.)

Anita...
Thank you, Barb - I do love the one of the fountain - the water looks

John #8...
___________________

Thanks for the photos, Barb. Cheltenham was on my list of places
to patrol. We switched towns all the time. When Cheltenham came
up it was great. The Yanks didn't go there often so it was peace &
quiet for us. Thanks for the nice memories, dear. :)

BunnyHare...
I'm glad you liked the pictures and that they brought back memories
John.
Was peaceful and quiet yesterday afternoon but, like many more places, I
believe there can be problems when the pubs and clubs turn out

as if it is actually in motion as you see it :)

BunnyHare...
Yes, I was quite pleased with the snap of the fountain. It wasn't the

BunnyHare...
Gosh that is some journey. I once did overnight to Edinburgh and that
was bad enough!
Yes I am not sure that the improvements to the Bullring are :-(

best day for taking pictures because the sun was so bright!

Pam the goose...
Beautitiful, thanks Barb:)

Cheltenham is a place I've passed through many times on the way to gigs but
never once stopped in. Not stopped for B&B or even just a cuppa. I reckon
the boss thought it too expensive:)

BunnyHare...
And the boss might well have been right. Can't even go in on Sunday
without being tempted now because the shops are open
next
