MCC...
...whoosher!

Rabbit...
OBJECTION!!! As far as I've been reading the accounts were upgraded in order
of how long you had been a Plusnet customer and I was one before you, I may
join the complainers now :-)

MCC...
LOL

There's plenty of them in plusnet.service.customer-feedback so you'll be in
'good' company

Enjoy, hope it's all plain sailing for you. BTW do you know if you are on BT

Rabbit...
I don't know about *good* company but I wouldn't be lonely :-)

MCC...
Thank you - no problems so far but it's very early days yet.

Rabbit...
That's good, a lot of folk complained about problems from day one so since
you have I believe to *train* your line for 10 days yours could get better.

MCC...
Quite honestly I'm more than satisfied with my 2 MB connection and won't
worry too much if it doesn't get increased greatly. Reliability is much
more important so far as I'm concerned. So much depends on the server from
which data is being downloaded. If it just isn't capable of handling 8Mb or
if it is so busy, then the fastest connection isn't going to improve
matters.

or Tiscali LLU ? Did you get a mail ?

Rabbit...
I kind of agree with you there but I'll add that when I first started
whooshing everything flew but I've noticed many web sites have added bells
and whistles now, so comparatively they aren't as quick as they used to be.
I suspect when 8 mb becomes the norm the sites will add more Flash, ads or
whatever and 8 won't appear any quicker than 2.

MCC...
I doubt very much if Tiscali, or any other ISP for that matter, will look
at this exchange - just not the business to warrant them being interested.

Rabbit...
Ah that's what I said too, it's what a BT engineer ( or two) told me but
I looked there Tiscali LLU wasn't enabled, it is today so I'm suspecting (
suspicious?) that the reason ( or one of them) that I haven't been upgraded
yet is so that I can be put on the LLU since I believe it's cheaper for

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
And my exchange is listed too.

Plusnet.

No, I didn't get a mail. All I got was disconnected when I went for my soup
and sarnie and when I reconnected afterwards, there I was synching at 8MB.
Today is the first day of a new billing month though, so maybe that is
relevant.

Rabbit...
My billing date was the end of last month, after my exchange was Maxed and I
was hoping then but I just got a mail about name change of my account.
However I never did get a mail when I got the upgrade to 2mb so I suspect I
won't get this one either. I'm keeping an eye on my router but it might help
if I knew what all the figures were about :-) According to
http://www.dslzoneuk.net/maxspeed.php I should get between 6.5 and 7.5.

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Even though I'm quite close to thre exchange it reckons I'll only get a
range of 3.5 - 4.3 Mbps :(

Flying Rat...
that's not even close to real world results where you actually get a lot=20
less.

Max has been a huge disappointment for many people, some of whom are=20
seeing extremely unstable speeds (especially at peak times). Purely due=20
to BT's systems and lack of fiber going back to the ISPs. It hasn't been=20
easy over the introduction period at all.

I'd been on-line most of the morning and hadn't noticed anything unusual
about my connection. Went and had some lunch and found that my broadband
connection had been disconnected. Dialled in and got an 8Mb connection :-)
Obviously the connection needs to settle down over the next few days to
stabilise but I'm a happy chappy in the meantime.
Thank you PlusNet :-)

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
I'm really jealous now: I'm still getting only:

Rabbit...
But didn't the Sheffield exchange miss out on the BT end of the upgrade or
has it now been done?

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
I'm on the Wadsley Bridge Exchange:

Rabbit...
Good it's not the whole of Sheffield.

Downstream 1,854.0 Kbps ( = 1.8 Mbps )
Upstream 238.9 Kbps ( = 0.2 Mbps )
Did Plusnet send you an email re your increased speed then? I thought they
were going to do that as and when.

MCC...
Eat your heart out FN :-))
Speed Test Results
Downstream 4,057.7 Kbps ( = 4.0 Mbps )
Upstream 373.9 Kbps ( = 0.4 Mbps )

Been rock steady all afternoon and evening. And this is only the first day

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Just tried to do a speed check on mine. Looks like there's some sort of
outage 'cos I can't even download the web-search page - everything ain't found.
Perhaps they're connecting me to an 8Mbps line. :)

;-)

MCC...
No, no e-mail, it just happened.
No apparent increase in speed yet but I believe there are issues to be
resolved in some software at PlusNet's end to get things showing as they

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Now my local Local Area Connection to my router is quoted as 100Mbps, so I
checked in my router and it quote Data Rate as 2272 kbps Downstream and 288
kbps Upstream, so it looks like mine hasn't changed yet. :(

should be.

Jackie...
Whey hey - speedy Gonzaliz now!!

datasmog...
This prompted me to check the router.
It's showing 4224kbps down and 448 kbps up. Don't know when that
happened.
However the PlusNet speed tester, for what it's worth, gives me 1280
kbps. So realistically I'm about 200kbps better off. Good job I'm not
paying anything for this "Upgrade".

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Mine give:
Router 2272 kbps down - 288 kbps up
Plusnet 1869.2 kbps
So no change for me so far. :(
