Neil Gibbons...
Hi everyone - My Norton Antivirus and firewall is shortly to run out and I
am about to renew it. I see a lot of post on AVG and I would like your view
on this or any other alternitive. I am counting the pennies at the moment
but I dont want to spoil the ship for a penny of tar.

Ali...
Other alternatives are Avast antivirus
and Kerio Personal Firewall.

Both available in free and paid-for versions.

Ponder...
Dump Norton, get AVG, Avast or AntiVir, all free for personal use.

Maybe it is, but I agree with it too. :)

déja vous - methinks. LOL

Ponder...
Biased on personal experience (AntiVir excepted) ;)

As an anti-virus package I find AVG excellent. I was a Norton user for
many years but had much trouble with their later versions. Moved to
AVG Free and have no regrets.

You'll still need a firewall though. Many in here use ZoneAlarm free
edition (I use McAfee - not free- as ZA free does not support some
things I need to do).

Good luck Neil.
