Smokey...
I use winamp as my audio player, all the icons on my music files have
changed from the winamp icon to....................how can I describe it,
looks like a white background with the right top corner turned down, and a
little multicoloured box in the middle. how can I revert back to the winamp

Bram...
When you right-click the file, is there an "Open With.." entry in the
menu.? If so, select choose program and select winamp. Ticking the little
box with always open that type of file with that program. Dunno if it will
restore your Winamp Icon though.

Sorry if that's not much help. I'm doing me best.
:-D

Smokey...
No open with Bram, but I know what you mean :-)) Play in winamp or enQ in
winamp

JoeH...
Is the "new" icon just an alternative Winamp one?

I got this from their help

"How do I associate file types with Winamp?
From the Options menu, select Preferences (or Ctrl+P using the
keyboard). Select "File Types" under General Preferences. Select the
desired file types you wish to associate."

Although your files are already associated with Winamp (cos they plays
there) it might be worth trying to see if it changes the icon.

Tickettyboo...
Is this the icon you mean Smokey?

If so that is the one that windows uses when it doesn't know which program
the file types are associated with.
Like Joe said, try the options in winamp options :preferences

Smokey...
That's it Boo...........thank you, I will remember it for future referance!!

JoeH...
Indeed, you can change the icon in there.

pmj...
I know you have sorted it now (by doing a ReInstall of WinAmp & also
a System Restore, so I dunno which one actually sorted the prob),
but you can change the Icons easily yourself...

JoeH mentioned that WinAmp has some Options for Selecting different

Smokey...
Yes I'd already had a little prod around there, but I didn't have much luck.
So I have have now solved the problem by doing an uninstall/reinstall.
thanks folks, that's my learning curve for today then ;-))

JoeH...
LOL that's another way of doing it.

Smokey...
I like an easy option........oh and I did a system restore too, just in
case...........lol

Icons for it, but *windoze* also has a [Change Icon] Button, so you
can Browse to whatever File you want, to Pick whatever Icon you want
for any File Type...

Go to:
Control Panel (or windoze Explorer>Menu>Tools)
Folder Options

Switch to the "File Types" Tab.
Scroll down until you come to one of the File Types that you want
to change (there will be several - cos some File Types have more than
one File Extension Associated with them), but if you change one File
Type Icon, then that will (or should!) change the Icon for all the
File Extensions that are Associated with that FileType.

Select the File Type & Click [Advanced...]
In the Next Dialog Box, you get a Button labelled: [Change Icon...]
Click that & it Opens up a "Change Icon" Dialog Box, with a bundle
of Icons in it already.
The Icons will be from one of a number of different actual *Files*,
so if none of the Icons there are what you want, you can Click the
[Browse...] Button & Navigate to whatever File you want.

If you want to use a WinAmp Icon, then Navigate to the WinAmp Folder
in Program Files & look for the WinAmp .EXE File (or one of the .DLL
Files) - otherwise Navigate to any other .EXE or .DLL File Folder,
in the windoze (or System32) Folder.

Have a look in the file called "moreicons.dll" & also in "shell32.dll"

They have loads of Icons to choose from.

When you've found one you like, Click ]OK] all the way back out.

Remember the *Icon* that happens to be shown for any given File
Extension (or File Type) is something completely separate from what
the File actually Opens up in!!!

So there's endless scope for lots of fun & games & Confuzzlement.
:-)

BoyPete...
Hey........David asked what it was...............not where to get it.

pmj...
Yep!
:-)

So, one *could* say, why Post a Link to a 3rd Party Download Site then?
:-)

But anyway, now he's got (at least) 3 Replies that all agree,
saying that it's Winamp is a Media Player!
:-)

& he can (if he wants) go & look at the Links to the Winamp Site
to find out more about it.

icon please ??

JoeH...
What does it open in if you double click one?

Smokey...
It still opens and plays in winamp, just the icon has changed Joe
