It's a female Large Skipper, (Ochlodes venatus).
It was blowing half a gale when I found it clinging to a waving grass
stem.
I gingerly stretched out my hand to steady the stem and, blow me, she
calmly walked on to my finger. I got three good shots but it was too
chilly for her to stretch her wings out.
The other one was of a Meadow Brown, but you knew that, right?
SWMBO was restraining Kali who normally charges straight at me when I
crouch down.
The problems we photographers have to contend with! :-))

a pretty flutterby on it) I have been looking and looking for a bug for you
ned, but I think the bugs round here must have all stepped on the lines and
the bears got them!
Apart from one hairymary caterpillar thing that took a liking to Mr Boo's
shirt this afternoon. I tried to photograph it after the guy behind us put
it on the floor. ( well, I wasn't going to touch it!) It was difficult
though cos it didn't half move fast!
