Jeff Gaines...
I know we've got some HTML whizzes in here.

I had to put a page together yesterday in HTML and found it a real
struggle :-( I used the MS Visual Studio IDE and ended up with all these
weird tags and things that don't mean anything to me!

Arachnophilia creates simple html and has a speil chuckler. There is

Sorry, I gave up on WYSIWYG and just use a syntax-highlighting text editor
(that will display the continuously updated rendered HTML in another window).

I use Net Objects Fusion for my web site but that saves the whole site.
Any suggestions for a WYSIWYG editor for HTML, preferably free as its use

Seconded - for a freebie it is a great piece of kit.

will be limited. I used to use Word 97 but the HTML function in that
doesn't work in XP. My normal editor (UltraEdit) does HTML but I could do

The Zeus IDE does HTML syntax highlighting, ftp/sftp
editing, project/workspace management, integrated
version control etc.

with something where I just type in text and the editor spell checks,
formats and converts to HTML for me.

Have a look at this one;

is it just a modernisation.

Sorry Anders, I can't see what context you are referring to, but I don't know
anywhere where [...] is equivalent to <...>

You could use the Tidy HTML to "spell check" (ie verify)
your HTML for W3C conformance.

With a bit of user configuration it is very easy to
integrate Tidy HTML directly into the Zeus editor:

But making sure the HTML (Tags & Attribute Values etc,) is "Valid",

If you have a HTML file with missing tags or a invalid
tag name how is this any different to a paragraph of
text containing a spellings errors or bad grammar.

Hi ali!

began writing html i used < tag >. So i just wondered if ppl has gone
over to useing [ tag ] instead of using < tag >?
Bad HTML changes the *layout* of the text, bad spelling may alter it's
*meaning*.

Any way you look at it the text entered by the user
contains errors.

Ali...
Different sort of errors - the OP wanted a program to generate correct HTML,
not to correct his.

I would have thought a spell check of a document in word
is nothing more than word checking to see if your english
is "Syntactically" correct.

Ali...
No, a spell check doesn't check syntax at all.
