I have just tried to get to the ftp server for an easily account I have on
r124.easily.co.uk , John. I went via IE as I always do, bit slow
connecting, but that's not unusual from my pc. Got into the ftp server

But once you're in, they're OK aren't they?

If you want to try yours via IE, the path to the live folder is

Yes, cos you don't want other folk connecting on your account on the ftp
server LOL

In IE, you go to File: Log in and can put your username and password in
there to authorise.
Have switched off wifi and

gone back to NIC, turned off the modem and PC for a while and can now
Been creating pages with Wink all day so maybe things got a bit
clogged up. :-)

I just tried that "r124" FTP Server & it Connects up OK here as well...

Both using Internet Explorer's own built-in FTP thingy (on that URL)
& also using the WinXP FTP Command Line thingy at a Command Prompt...

So that means that the FTP Server is Up & Running OK & is accepting

What "Strange Messages" are you getting when trying to FTP to them?

& what actual FTP Server Name are you using (I gather they have
several different FTP Server Names, depending on the Account that
you have)

I can get to this one OK...

But since I haven't actually got an Easily Account I can't Log in.
It Connects OK though.

So, I presumed that he wanted to know if other people could get to it?
(in an effort to suss out whether the prob was his end, or the Server
end, or possibly somewhere along the way)...

You Posted up saying that you could get to it OK, (using your PlusNet
ADSL Connection & the Internet Explorer built-in FTP thingy)

& I Posted up saying that I could also get to it (from my
Telewest/Blueyonder) Cable Modem Connection - both using the IE
FTP thingy & also the Command Line FTP.exe Utility.

So (hopefully) that has established that it (the Easily FTP Server
itself) is fine?

So, that looks like the prob therefore must be something his end
(or possibly on the Route between his (NTL) Connection & the Server)?

& is getting the FTP Commands OK, from the FTP Client & is looking
up in its User Database OK & asking for a PassWord & then (since
there is no Valid UserName of "test", with a PassWord of "anyoldjunk")
the actual Login Process fails for me.

What Error Messages are you getting JRT, when you try it?

I suspect it's prolly just a temporary glitch somewhere your end,
or along the Route between your end & the Server.

Give it a while (possibly with a ReBoot or two?)
& have a nice cup of Coffee.
& it will prolly all be Fixted soon!
