Good morning from chilly Cornwall :-)

Good morning....and to everyone else....
Rather cool here too.

The thermometer this morning said it was 0 in the shade but the BYT was
making a lot of places *much* warmer. Unfortunately her glare off the wet
roads made for some almost blind driving. The gritters were out last night
which I presume accounted for the wet roads and I saw a couple of cars who's
drivers only cleared a bit of the windscreen (lazy so and so's, there
couldn't have been that much to clear) but otherwise it was a lovely
morning/early afternoon till the BYT disappeared a short while ago.
Good afternoon one and all.

Very chilly here too. Below freeziing when I got up with a heavy frost.
It's climbed to 0.2°C (32.4°F) so far, and BYT is now visiting. No
precipitation forecast here for the rest of the day.

Hope all poorlies are faring well.

Looks like I will be going back to the surgery later this morning if I can
get an appointment - my cellulitis flared up yet again last night :-(
MCC...
|
Phoned surgery at 8.30 for an appointment and was told to come along at
10.50 when "the doctor will be pleased to see you". Seen by the Doctor on
time, given a prescription for another *fortnight's course of
Flucloxacillin antibiotics,* got the tablets at the reception desk and was
home by 11.10. (No chemist in the village so the surgery does its own
dispensing - a source of great revenue for the practice )
I doubt if I could get better service anywhere.

That's pretty good Mike. Those were the antibis I took for my elbow
infection last month. Had to take them on an empty stomach and not eat for
an hour afterwards. :(
Seemed to w*rk well. :)

Yes, these are the antibiotics I nearly always get prescribed for
cellulitis. I hate the smell of them when I pop them out of the packaging -
like rotten eggs! Hopefully the longer course will clear up this infection.
When the Doc wants to ring the changes I get co-amoxiclav.

|
Beautiful day here now - hardly a cloud in the sky, no wind but quite cool

Can't quite match that - BYT and Walter still here but temp only 3.9°C
|
at only 5ºC

Sorry to hear that Mike, it's a nasty thing, had a touch of it myself
recently and was given 2 lots of AB's in all a total pf 1000mgs, 4 times a
day, even then I had to have another weks supply at normal dose
Get better soon Mike
|
|
Have a good day.

Very chilly morning all. Sorry to hear about the return of your cellulitis
Mike, it really is beyond a joke, isn't it. Hope the doc can kick start
your recovery quickly.
We have a light covering of snow again but the roads were gritted last
night so not as bad as yesterday, when it was hard to even get out of our
village unless you had a four wheel drive! Mind you, the dustcart seems to
have managed to slither across the end of our lane and get wedged on the
bank, goodness knows how they're going to get that moving!

Good morning Mike and everyone. Very chilly here, I think there is a severe
frost here
all over our wooden bench outside is large white patches like bird
droppings! may be frozen snowflakes - not seen anything like it before!!
some snowflakes on the grass.
So sorry to hear your cellulitis has flared again - could it be an allergy
to something makes it flare-up? I do hope you get your appointment or at
least can phone your Doctor for a prescription.

Have a nice day everyone.

Morning Mike. I won't say good as it's not for you is it. I hope you get an
appointment and can get something for your problem. (((HUG)))

Goodmorning Mike - both my cousin and her son have suffered from this
complaint and they both have had the greatest benefit from ICTHO Paste
It has been around since I was young :-)) When my cousin last had a flare
up she asked at the surgery for an Ictha Bandage and they did not know what
she was talking about, when she persisted the doctor gave her a
prescription. Some of the old remedies have got lost or pushed aside.
Hope you can soon get relief.

I'd never heard of it, so searched the web for
Always worth asking your doc Mike. As donut says, sometimes the
oldfashioned stuff is effective and if it give you some relief then its
gotta be good
|
It is dry but very cold here and I have stew and dumplings for lunch.
Just bring your bowls to the hatch if you fancy some.

Mike did you see Donut's post re ICTHO Paste just above this post

Looks like he did Jen - my cousins son was taking two different antibiotics
together ( after the first course did not work) for his cellulitis and his
arm was just like the illustration here but more swollen poor lad got no
sleep and went back to the doc. who called in an older colleague in the
practice who said to try Ictho.he has had no problem since but my cousin
gets flairs up and she just goes now and asks for it.
|
|
|
Not recommended by my GP! OK for dermatitis or eczema but not for
infections under the skin.
But thanks for the kind thought, Donut. I'll be round for my stew and
dumplings :-))

Well if he will not give you the script then that's it. Hope it soon
clears up.

This from my "little sister", who suffers from leg ulcers but was also a
District Nurse
Horrible things, but they are very successful for some people. I had them
applied twice and reacted to something in them. Nurse wouldn't believe me,
thought she knew better. I've also applied them many times. They have to
be applied in a back and fore technique because they don't expand and stop
anyone who does it otherwise. They are smelly, but quite a clean tarry
smell, not too comfortable but bearable and usually left on for a week
between applications, so bin liners and elastic bands needed for a shower.
Can make a mess of your clothes and bedding, but they are sometimes applied
as one layer of a four layer system of treatment where poor venous return
is the cause of skin condition as in varicose ulceration. Hope you don't
have to have them but it is a tried and tested treatment and as I say very
successful for some people. I can't knock it.
