An avid Newcastle United and Durham Cricket Club fan - she and a lady friend
spent days huddled up under blankets watching the cricket matches right up
until she died. The love of her life was "Saint Alan" Shearer, and I have a
lovely personalised 80th birthday card here with his piccie on the front.

So sorry to read your sad news, Jan.

She worked for the NCB stores in Easington/Peterlee, and after training 5
chaps in turn to do her job so she could be promoted, all 5 were promoted
above her - so she resigned in disgust and went to work in Poland, a very
brave thing to do at her age in the 1970s.

So next week is going to be very sad. A great lady, who will be sadly
missed.
