John #8...
England 2, Sweden 2

By NANCY ARMOUR, AP National Writer
June 20, 2006

COLOGNE, Germany (AP) -- England finally got a result against Sweden
it can live with.

No, not a win -- that has been too much to ask for. A 2-2 tie Tuesday,
however, was enough for the English to win Group B at the World Cup.

Nice match. England should have won but they're looking good. I'll see
the reply tonight. I bet it ends in a tie. *Go England!!*

______________

I ment, REPLAY. Duh!! :-)

WEll there were one or two highlights worth watching John, but not many.
One brilliant goal and a few fiascos from the England defence. :(

Joe...
I thought both of our goals were brilliant.

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
But Gerrard's goals are usually even better than that bullet header. That
one tonight was fairly average by his standards. :)

Rabbit...
Did you win ?

Joe...
No, it was 2-2, meaning that we *did* win the group.

Ponder...
Pity about the embarrassment or the game itself ;)

Rabbit...
Sheesh, God help ¾ of the UK :-(

Joe...
The *only* people who have mentioned the World Cup in here tonight are the
people who supposedly hate it. The rest of us have just joined in.

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
So true ! :)

The answer may be of your own making ;-))

Rabbit...
I like most Scots ( and I suspect Irish and Welsh) don't hate the WC or the
fact that England are part of it. What we hate is the propaganda by the EBC
and the English based press, which doesn't differentiate between the
different *nationalities* which make up UK.
Taken from the Scottish press

MORE tales from Rooneyvision - also known as the English Broadcasting
Corporation.
Last week, their internet news coverage won a "Webby" - the on-line version
of an Oscar.
A BBC team was sent to New York for the ceremony - where the nerdy geeks
decreed that each acceptance speech should be no more than five words. So
what did the BRITISH Broadcasting Corporation man say as he held the trophy
aloft?
It was - "ENGLAND BRING THE CUP HOME!" Pass the sick bag.

What had that to do with the *British* Broadcasting Corporation ?

Ali...
England is part of Britain.

No doubt if Scotland had been in the competition instead, the quote would
have been "SCOTLAND BRING THE CUP HOME!"

Ponder...
I seem to remember a lot of p!55 taking in the English press when
Scotland were last there. My memory may be warped but that's what I
remember.

When two or more of the home nations get into the same competition, then you
will be able to properly see if there is a bias in the Corporation.

BTW, you seem to have seen much more of the competition than I have.
