I've got Funder but I haven't seen any Frightening ( I didn't think that was
possible?) The wet stuff is coming down like a monsoon and in 15 minutes the

So long as it isn't too Frightening. :)

Exactly. I am never bothered by the noise.
The thought of that electrickery is very Frightening.
I just have to remind myself of the odds on getting struck.
There have only been 4 strikes within a mile of here in the
last 15 years.

Surprisingly (to me anyway) it's not frightening despite the fact that I do
remember as a child, my mother and I coming off a bus, from my maternal
grandparents, and having to take shelter in the chip shop belonging to a
family friend during a night like tonight when somehow ( I was too
young, about 3 or 4, to take in the details ) the Frightening struck the shop
and it went on fire.No great damage was done but it often surprises me that
the childhood trauma never affected me in later life.

Sounds like that was a bad un - shouldn't you have been scarred for life?
:)

Yep that's what I would have thought but IMHO there is nothing more
spectacular supplied by Mother Nature than a Funder and Frightening

Funny isn't it?
My (paternal) gran was so frightened by storms she used to shut herself in a
cupboard. I even remember her going in there with her dinner one day. Made
me frightened and my Dad was furious. Now I just love them.

Oh dear:(
It looks like you have what we're going to get according to the weather
forecast. Our weather front is coming from West Scotland:(

Don't say I'm not generous :-)

It's been hot BYT all day here, so hot I had to go and get summer trousers
and top cos the ones I was wearing made my neck wet!! And we've had the
ceiling fan on all day.

|
That's another odd thing, I thought you needed heat to have Funder and
Frightening. It's been mild enough here all day but not warm.

It's the first bit of sweating I've done since the bleeding brain so I guess

Over the water methinks. You ought to see just how black the sky is that
way. It wasn't as black as that half an hour ago and now I've got a wind
getting up.

Now, now, Sandra. You just be careful with that wind getting up of
yours... They'll be placing a Noise Abatement Order on you personally,
you'll see.

Oh it's died down now. So did the Funder, Frightening and rain but it's just
arrived back again :-(

BTW. I can't remember we had one single bout of Funder and Frightenening
when we were living up towards that way. Just nice, temperate summers, blue
skies, etc.etc. I kid you all not. M.

Seen some spectacular pictures on the Beeb's site this morning. As

Funder is not uncommon without frightening ( what a lovely expression!!)

I often, while visiting friends in Florida watched Frightening without
Funder. It just *seemed* to go from cloud to cloud and was fantastic to
watch.

God's Own Country is where I live and to give you a hint where that is .....
A man in decided to write a book about churches around the UK. He started by
flying to London, and started working from there.
Going to a very large church, he began taking photographs and making notes.
He spotted a golden telephone on the vestibule wall and was intrigued with a
sign which read "£1,000 a minute."
Seeking out the vicar he asked about the phone and the sign. The vicar
answered that this golden phone is, in fact, a direct line to Heaven and if
he pays the price he can talk directly to God. The man thanked the vicar and
continued on his way.
As he continued to visit churches in Kent, Surrey, Lincolnshire,Derbyshire,
Yorkshire, Lancashire, Northumberland, and all around the UK, he found more
phones, with the same sign, and the same answer from each vicar.
Finally, he arrived in Scotland. Upon entering a church in Glasgow, behold,
he saw the usual golden telephone. But THIS time, the sign read: "Calls:
10p."
Fascinated, he asked to talk to the vicar. "Reverend, I have been in cities
all across the country and in each church I have found this golden telephone
and have been told it is a direct line to Heaven and that I could talk to
God, but, in the other churches the cost was £1,000 a minute - your charge
is only 10p. How can this be?"
The vicar, smiling benignly, replied, "Son, you're in Scotland now.........
Madge...
It's a local call."

I think the last time I remember Funder and Frightening here was two years
( or it might have been three) ago, in May too 'cos it was when I was laying
the gravel in the front garden. Before that I can't remember when we last
had it.

been sitting in a pub garden all evening and am hoping this is just a taste
