The tv was working this morning, I've plugged in a new DVD player and now I
can't get any telly.
Has someone hijacked my tv progs as well???
Oh well, I shall go back to the good old radio lol

Did you plug the DVD Player in & Connect it yourself?
Or did the Supplier of it come round & do it for you?
If they did it, just call them back out & explain to them that
you want it working how it was (& even if they didn't charge you
separately for coming doing it (cos that was included in the price),
you don't want to pay them again to make it Fixted)
If *you* Plugged it all in & Connected it up, then have a look
at the Instruction Books - for both/all of the DVD Player & also
for the TV & any other Video Recorder(s) &/or other Set Top Box
(Satellite/Cable TV type things) that you use with it.
Cos the prob is almost certainly just a matter of getting *all*
the right Cables & Plugs Plugged into the right Sockets on all
the various different things, so that the Signals can all get
through to the right place - so long as all the Cables are the
correct sort & are wired correctly & aren't faulty.
Also, you have to make sure that you are Selecting the right Input
for the TV - if you have Cable TV, then you will need to Select the
right Input (Scart Socket or TV Channel) depending on how that's
Connected.
All that TV/Video/DVD/Set Top Box type Connecting stuff can be
a complete nightmare to get right!

Paranoid? Probably LOL Try unplugging switching the aerial leads around
and see it that helps ?

I'm with NTL, Val, so I don't think that's the answer. Besides, I've now
unplugged everything to do with the DVD player, and I still can't get tv.
I've retired to the computer room with Classic FM - much less stressful.
My OH is due here tomorrow so if his knees are up to it, I'll ask him. He'll
enjoy that - not:))

so you have cable TV, we don't have anything so up to date as that here.
Just old overhead telephone lines for the puter, and satellite TV

I had a similar problem to you - after using our new DVD player for the
first time could not get back to the tv - it was discovered that the 2
scarts were in the wrong tv sockets - when they were changed over we
could access the tv again.

Tried that last night Anita, with no success. Trouble is, it's a very
resticted place at the back of my tv. In fact, it's an electrician's
nightmare, lol, and bending my knees is an impossibility - unless I'm
begging for something.
I've swapped scart leads from one socket to another and switched the tv on
and off more times than I've had hot dinners.
I'll report back later cos I'm still trying. Very trying:((

No, we did not set it up originally it was set up by the installers from
the shop where we purchased the tv with a free dvd recorder. We had the
dvd 2 weeks before we used it - it played fine, but when we turned it
off we had lost the tv transmission, but could see the programmes via
the vcr.
So I phoned the shop they sent somebody else along who discovered that
the
Av2 scart was in the Av1 socket and vice versa - hope this is the case
with your one.

It's not that Anita, but I wish it was. The DVD player came with the scart
lead fixed in the back, and the other end was plugged into the tv.
Oh well, hopefully it will be solved tomorrow. I'm getting used to things
going wrong this week:((
And so to bed
