Just listening to someone singing on Sky three: Only You (can make my dreams
come true, then he goes: uh oh only you........

Who was it, ?
I thought it was The Inkspots

Troy's Human...
The Platters.

pmj...
Lots (*loads*!) of people, (both Solo Artists & Groups) have sung it...

But the most famous Version was done by The Platters in 1955
On the Mercury Label.

& it was the Flip Side of "The Great Pretender", also by the Platters,
which was actually the first Hit that the Platters had over here.

& Brenda Lee did it.
Ringo Starr did a popular Version in the 70's
John Lennon also did it
Freddie Mercury (no relation to the Record Label Mercury!) did it.
& Louis Armstrong did it.
& It was in the Film American Graffiti (sung by the Platters)

They're the ones I know of - & I just looked on web-search & found that
(apparently) Travis Tritt did it & Lonestar have also done it.

But I think the Platters Version is the one most people would think of,
when that song is mentioned, or played.

It was Written by Buck Ram & Andre.Rand, who wrote a lot of the
stuff that the Platters sang (Buck Ram was their Manager & Producer
as well).

Golly gosh PMJ you are a mine of information ;-)

LOL!

Well, yes - I have always been particularly interested in the early
Rock & Roll (& Doo Wop & Rockabilly) Music.

Most of what I posted above was from my memory & knowledge of stuff
that I have picked up over the years, but also the WEb offers plenty
of ways of finding out more information about anything.

I quoted some URLs (Links) to Sites as useful sources of Info.

I have only heard the Platters version, I once saw them in concert in the
USA togetherwth the Drifters and the Coasters, it was absolutely fabulous.

pmj...
I've never seen them Live, but I have a fair amount of their stuff
on lots of Albums & CDs - the Sleeve Notes are full of useful
Information about Songs & Artists (& Writers).
