although the printer is printing in colour by looking at the headers why
arnt the colurs in the table printing and are just blank? i tried from 2

Yep, Print Preview *does* try to show (as nearly as it can) what's
going to get Printed - it's always a good idea to look at the Print
Preview *first*, before doing a Print out, to make sure that what
you expect (& want) to be Printed is actually going to get Printed
(sometimes some Pages don't fit very well on Paper & also, (as you
found out) *Backgrounds* don't normally Print out, unless explicitly
Set in the Browser Options)

either.

In IE I get what you get but in Firefox the colours show in print preview
AND print correctly.

The colours are background colours, so, by default, don't get printed. (You
can waste a lot of ink printing background colours). There's a tick box
somewhere in the print dialogue to print background colours, or possibly to
NOT print background colours. Change it.

& don't forget to Set that Option back to how it was!
Otherwise you will use a lot of Ink up & also many *other* Web Pages
(such as ones with Colored, Flowered etc, Backgrounds) will look really
naff when Printed!
