Saxman...
I have been using O2's web based free (and paid for) texting service.

It appears as if they are now denying me this service which I have used
for sometime. When I want to purchase further units, I get a message
asking me to contact 'Customer Services'.

Anybody else had this problem?

pmj...
The problem with all (or most of) the various different Web-based SMS
Text Messaging Services that there are around (& there have been loads,
over the years), is that it costs them Money to get the SMS Text
Messages to the Mobile Networks.
Most of the Web-based SMS Text Message Services seem to spring up for
a while & then close down, when they find that the money they can make
from things such as Adverts etc, on their Websites isn't enough to cover
the cost of the Messages.

Is there another web based texting service that I can use, as I find it
much easier sending messages via a keyboard than punching keys into a

pmj...
Skype can be used for Sending SMS Text Messages.

OK, it costs some money (which you pay for, using the normal Skype
Credit on your normal SkypeOut Account), but they aren't very expensive
& like you say, it *is* very much easier to Type a message on a Computer
Keyboard, than on a Mobile Phone Keypad.

mobile.

Mike Tullett...
I use this site for texting from both my phone and the web. It costs about
4p a text and is not profit making.

You need to authenticate your phone before you start though.

Saxman...
They claim messages cost 4.2p and confuse me by stating this afterwards.

"Our overheads are so low that we cannot cover the transaction charges
imposed for very small transactions. Therefore please note the
GBP0.30".

Do they mean a deposit of less than £3.00?

Mike Tullett...
Yes, they want a minimum of £3.00 (say 70 texts) to start with, else there
will be an extra 30p to cover transaction costs.

I guess I need to choose the Email-to-SMS option?
