A 14" screen seems a bit of a let down compared to the rest of the spec. And

I recently bought an IBM R50e which has had good reviews, it also has a
trackpoint which I much prefer to a mousepad, price is similar to the
Toshiba.

I also have a Toshiba Portege M300 which is very nice (ultra portable)
- I had a keyboard problem and Toshiba arranged collection, repair and
re-delivery promptly so my experience of their service is OK.
