MCC...
SWMBO and I had a lovely day out at the Eden Project today - beautiful

andon...
forgot to say that my fav pic was #92.
The "hidden look" of all that promise of future blooms.

Glad to hear that you both got a good day out. It always seems to do
the spirit good. Helps keep the rest of the time that little bit more
bearable.
Sad to here of the lost pics. Have to own to have done the same thing
by formatting the card via the PC instead of in the camera.
Fortunately I took 2 pics at home and realised the problem
immediately but only by luck.
Thank for posting SW you MBO's pics.
Sure is my type of quarry :-)
andon

sunny weather, with not a cloud in the sky but quite a cool easterly
breeze.

jackie...
Really beautiful pictures Mike, such a shame about your camera but glad it
is o.k. now.
I can just imagine the perfume from those hyacinths - wow!!I loved the
picture of the robin!

~~Linda~~...

Took lots of piccies, got home, tried to download them to my computer -
nothing!

Aries...
Oh dear Mike, what a shame, I wonder why that happened? Just as well SWMBO
took along her own camera - nice piccies too. I simply adore the one with
the robin in it :D

Rebooted computer, still nothing showing on the card reader.
Put card back in camera and it tells me "card has not been initialized".
Now I know this to be untrue because I've been using that card for ages and
today I checked each photo as I took it and they were all there.
"Oh! Golly gosh," I thought to myself, "What a nuisance!" or words to that
effect.

Rabbit...
Yes I can imagine the *golly goshes* ;-)

Re-formatted the card in the camera knowing full well that I would wipe
everything on it, took a test photo and it downloaded without problem, so
goodness knows what the problem was.

Rabbit...
I had that problem once when I used the card reader to wipe the card instead

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Hmm ! I always wipe my xD card in the card reader.

MCC...

Smokey...
Looks an interesting place Mike, may get there one day :-)
I have too, up until now. Normally I just delete the photos that are on
there - don't bother with formatting as such.
In future I will do it in the camera.

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Well! When I said wipe, I only meant delete jpegs - don't reformat it.

of the camera.

Luckily SWMBO took her camera too and I've put some of her photos on my

Rabbit...
I'm passing that on to a friend who I am trying to convince that a trip to
the Eden Project is a god idea. Nice piccies and not as busy ( which I think
I'd prefer) as the last piccies I saw. Thanks Mrs MCC I enjoyed those.

MCC...
It wasn't too bad today apart from 100 8-10 year olds from Barnstaple who
had arrived in 2 coaches!

Rabbit...
Well it makes a change from the theme parks usually known as Tesco/ASDA/
Morrisons which are packed during the school holidays. Our lot is off for
two weeks just now :-(

Seriously it wasn't bad at all. I intend going back soon to see the outside
tulips at their best and then to see the lilies as well.
I only paid £5 to get in today and that gives me free entry as often as I
like for a year - a 5th birthday present to Cornwall residents :-))

Rabbit...
Yep I've been there and watched the TV documentary it really is a case of
convincing a friend that it's worth going, but I'm jbexing hard :-)

- don't go on a damp, drizzly day in summer - nobody on the beaches,
everybody at Eden! Time your arrival either for first thing in the morning
- 9.30 a.m. when they open - or for after 2 p.m. And Friday and Saturday
are the quietest days during the summer for some reason.
Be prepared for lots of walking and quite steep hills - the place is in the
bottom of a disused china clay pit after all ;-)
Virtually everywhere is wheelchair accessible - only the highest part of
the tropic biome has steps to get to the top.

Rabbit...
Best bet from up here is a coach tour. Another friend went that way and the
price included her tickets. BTW if ( when) I make it,I expect an added
tourist (me) attraction to be you and Mrs MCC ;-)

MCC...

We're closed in September :-))
I'll be in Orkney while Mrs MCC will be in Kent.
Apart from then, if we're in, we're open

Rabbit...
I'll remember that and don't forget that if your trip way Oop Norf brings
you to the west coast, I can point you to a good tourist attraction...me :-)

Old Grizzly...
Mornin Mike,
I am visiting my Mother straight after Easter and thought i would like
to visit Eden but i am worried about hill climbing, i thought i had
heard that they had a sort of train to get you around or out am i wrong?

MCC...
Morning Len
Hope you find your Mum well.
Inside the tropic humid biome, the path gets really steep but there are
plenty of seats on which you can catch your breath - I prefer to call it
'admire the view' :-) - and there is an alternative route avoiding the
steepest part of the paths.
The remainder of the site is more or less level apart from the track down
and back up. There is a 'train' pulled by a tractor that will get you
there, but it is oh so slow :-)

Old Grizzly...
Slow is a relative term i think LOL it will probably be faster than me
:-) i think i might give it a go so now i can organise the trip i think.
I am looking at hotels in the area of St Austell for a couple of nights.

MCC...
Boo might be able to recommend a hotel for you, having stayed there last
year.
I can't, I'm afraid, as I've only ever visited Asda and the Saturday/Sunday
market there :-)
Beware though! St. Austell town centre is being re-developed - the SW
Regional Development Agency has just bought the Tesco store just so as it
can be knocked down for the redevelopment.
Lots of moans and groans from town centre businesses.
Enjoy your visit :-)

Tickettyboo...
Hi Len, as Mike has said, there are lots of places to just sit and look
round and there is transport down ( and back up) to the main part from the
top..LOL when I was there , there was a wire thing too, where you were
tied into a harness and you could zoom down on the wire! Nope, I didn't
have a go This is what the webpage says about access:

MCC...
This is what Boo chickened out of

Dunno who the bald-headed guy is who walked in front of my wife just as she
took the piccie

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
But we can all guess who's trying to hog all the limelight, can't we? :)

Gradients on the main routes do not exceed 1:15
There is a choice of different routes so you can choose a length & style
to suit
There are some resting points alongside paths, and more will be added as
the site develops
A land train will be taking people back up to the Visitor Centre & car
parks
In the Biomes
Both Biomes offer a feast for the senses. Please note that as the name
implies, the Humid Topics Biome will be consistently hot and humid. The
route takes about 45 minutes to walk and involves a gentle climb. The last
third of the route does involve a more sustained climb and there is an
option here for people to leave from a side exit.

I think go early, if that's possible, and take it very slow might be the
best bet. I really enjoyed our visit, hope you get to go and enjoy it
too...don't forget the camera!
Oh, the hotel we stayed at was this one
Its in the town centre, they have parking over the road and a restaurant
and a bar..both were quite busy on the Friday & Saturday night we were
there.

The scent from the hyacinths was just beautiful.

Anita...
Some lovely photos there, Mike - thank you :)

jenny at w*rk...
Lovely pictures thank you Mike

jenny at w*rk...

Wrinklie One =?iso-8859-1?Q?=A9?=...
What a difference... D and I went couple of times before it was
completed... Unfortunately I too lost all the piccies in an earlier
crash...

Splodge...
Lovely pics Mike, the flowers are pretty, but my favourite is the robin.
Splodge

Rabbit...
Oh yes I could smell them, lovely, one of my favourite scents.

noreen...
Morning Mike what a shame about your camera !!! but the ones your wife took
are brilliant
thanks . Will have to try and get there one day it looks lovely ;-))

Tickettyboo...
I can almost smell them!
Lovely pics Mrs Mike :-) Will have to sort out visiting the Eden Project
again. It was summer last time we went so I would like to visit at a
different time of year.

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...

Glad SWMBO had the 'female' sense to take her camera too, hehe. The photos
are lovely Mike... looks like you had a good day out. Lucky you, living
close enough for repeat visits!
