Yesterday.........

at 3 o'clock I said Goodbye to my lovely Holly a 14 year old yellow
Labrador.

So sad for you jamps. Holly will now be playing at the Rainbow bridge and be
happy.

Very sad Jamps, you have my empathy and sympathy.

Her back legs have been getting weaker for the last 12 months but in the
last 6 weeks have become steadily worse until they could no longer support

Cortisone injections and steroids didn't give much relief but she was
completely free from pain thank goodness.

I've struggled along lifting her every time she wanted to get up but decided
she hadn't got much quality of life so let the Vet gently put her to sleep.

I wait to hear the comments of neighbours after seeing me out on the lawn at
3.30 am, wearing only my nighty and wellies, lifting her after she had 'gone
to ground'!

I'll miss her very much as she was my constant companion and friend - we've
only been apart for 3 nights in the 14 years I've had her.
She is very sadly missed.

I am so sorry to read this Jamps, I know how you feel - I felt the same
when I had to have our dog put to sleep.

Oh Jamps, I'm so sorry. You'll have to picture her running around Upstairs.
A nice peaceful gentle end is what we want for our pets, so that was
lovely.

I know exactly how you must be feeling Jamps, the same thing happened with
my beloved dog Benjie, I shall never forget the day we had to say goodbye,
at least Holly won't suffer any more now, you made the right decision.

I do feel for you Jamps for I know how I felt my dog Rex had to be put to
sleep, we had him for 16 years.

I'm so sorry for your loss, jamps. Many of us have gone through
a loss of a pet.(family member). It's a terrible feeling that lingers
a lifetime. I'm old now, but I still look through old photo albums
with photos of myself & my dog Chubby & I always remember
how happy he made me as a kid.

Your friend is gone but the wonderful memories will last a lifetime.
I believe your sweet dog is romping in heaven waiting to greet you
some day. The pain you must feel is natural. Let's hope God has
a nice spot for your dear friend. God bless.

Thank you John. The loss of Holly has hit me really hard - I hadn't
realised just how much I would grieve.

Thank you all so much for your kind remarks. I'm quite 'choked' now but
time is a great healer and I shall be left with many happy memories -
particularly all of the rosettes she has won for being the 'Best Sausage
Catcher' at the dog shows we have attended! :-) and the Medal for the
Kennel Club Good Citizen Gold Award. :-)
She was also terrific at catching and eating pickled onions. lol

Somewhere, deep in my archives is the pic I took of Holly when i visited
you some years ago. Whenever it surfaces I shall think of Holly in

Although a very deed it is best thing you could have done for her Jamps, it
is very sad when you need to say good by to one who as been a big part of
your life,,

doggie heaven now and running around like the young pup you remember. My
thoughts are with you as I have had to do the same with my 2 Bens, both
Golden retrievers (((HUG)))
