Why does it say in the manual for my Olympus C-350 Zoom camera that I should
only use rechargeable batteries and not alkaline ones?
All I can think of is the voltage difference, perhaps lower battery internal

pmj...
Yes, there *is* a (slight) Voltage differnce between NiCads (or NiMH
or LiOn) Rechargeable batteries & Alkaline ones, but that isn't the
reason they say what they say...

pmj...
Yep.

resistance, but can't understand what critical difference that would make.

pmj...
NiCads (& other similar Rechargeable Batteries) have a very much lower
Internal Resistance, so they are able to deliver *far* more Current,
when (or if) needed.

Hence why some NiCads (in Laptops etc,) catch fire!!!
:-)

But I don't want, or need, a *flaming* digital camera! Who would? :)

Or is it just the probability that rechargeables may be less likely to leak
and cause contact corrosion within the camera..

pmj...
That's possible, but prolly not the reason they say you should use them.

Thanks for the comments though.
