Available from:
& here's what's different about it...
The main difference is that they have now released the Option of
Enabling "Web Presence" - which lets you show your Skype "Status"
on a Web Page, so you can let people know that you are "Online"
(or "Away" or whatever) by showing a Pic/Symbol/Icon on a Web Page,
The Pic Served up by the Skype Servers, according to how you have
your Skype Status (& Privacy Options) Set.

Nope I can't see the point either. Just like msn messenger used to be a
simple little prog and has grown to a huge size with all sorts of stuff no
one really wants/needs, Skype seems to be getting more and more cumbersome
and gimmicky.

It's an *Optional* thing (it's UnTicked by Default) & you have to
"Opt-In", so if you don't want (to use) that "Feature" then you
don't have to use it.
But if you *do* Enable it, then anybody, anywhere, who has a Web
Connection can see your Skype Status - obviously - even if you
don't actually put the Icon on any Page, cos the Icon comes from
the *Skype* Servers.
