A briefcase was stolen with all eight million customers details on it, the
person had taken the briefcase home with him, can you imagine it, and how
secure is that :-(
Apparently this happened in August and it's only just been reported on the
news today, Nationwide are going to write to all the customers to inform
them.

Gareth...
I was just reading about that myself as I have a few accounts with
them. :-(

"It is reassuring customers that no PIN numbers, account passwords or
memorable information was on the laptop. But it does not deny that
names and account numbers could have been."

Rabbit...
Ahhhhhhh!!!!! If the BBC ( once upon a time the bastion of good English
grammar) insist on saying PIN number, there is no hope left :-(

Gareth...
The BBC were quoting Nationwide. ;-)

Rabbit...
That's worse :-( Mind you I have seen and heard the Beeb referring to PIN
numbers before.

Gareth...
But we still know what they mean. :-)

Derek F...
I was in a Nationwide branch recently, when I said that I did not want an
internet account they assured me that theirs is the most secure of them all
:-)
Derek.
PS BBC reports said that it was a laptop that was stolen.
