MCC...
I asked on here a short time ago about the best method of doing this - I
wanted to synchronise files between my PC and my laptop.
PMJ recommended Microsoft SyncToy, among others.
I found an article about it in a back copy of Computer Active and it all
sounded fairly easy.
After downloading the program from
I tried running it, only to be told I needed Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1
as well, despite having .NET Framework 2 on here. Anyway, off I went and
got it and installed it as well. And I'm really glad I did.
SyncToy makes two folders, the first being the source of the
documents/files you want to synchronise from and the second the folder to
which you want to send all the files/documents.
At first I tried using my 256MB USB key, but there wasn't enough room for
all my photos and suchlike so I formatted a DVD+RW and copied everything
there. Worked a treat and very quickly.
I've done some experimenting deleting files and folders both at source and
destination and running the program again - just takes a matter of seconds
to update itself in either direction.
I thoroughly recommend SyncToy - it does exactly what it says on the tin.
And it's free ;-)

Graham...
I swear by it, it's the simplest and most efficient of the many I've
tried. And as you say, it's free :-)

I use it here and would also recommend it.
