I have just helped my friend set-up her laptop she was worried because her
amber power light keeps flashing.
I have just checked all her connections and they are all in firmly, is this
anything to worry about??Advice please!!

She's on mains power and her battery is being charged? Just a thought.

Yep, that's what it sounds like, to me as well...

I am almost sure that is correct Mike, I can't say I have noticed on my
laptop, she does seem to have a larger amber light showing than on my
laptop.
I will check mine in the morning.

Well, remember that her Laptop is unlikely to be exactly the same
as yours?
So what yours does & has, in the way of Flashing, Colored Lights,
may well be different (& mean different things) than hers?

Checked friends laptop and it was the battery charging that was flashing,
she is happy now she knows!
We are having fun because she is just learning how to use the mouse!!

She is so new to computing and is worried by the least little thing, thinks
she is doing something wrong.
Thank you.

That's often the way...
& you (as her "Helper" & "Advisor") will need to find out what
bits in her System & Installation are similar to yours (in other
words are generic "windoze" type things & thus you can Advise her
from your own, direct experience) & what bits are specific to hers
(& thus different from) yours, which will then need a slightly
different approach.
That, I find is one of the main things to suss out, when you are
trying to Help someone else with a prob, or when they get a New
(or different) PC.
& you will also have to learn to sort of "translate" & "interpret"
what they *say* is wrong, into what is *actually* wrong!
:-)
& indeed, you will need to be able to suss out whether the prob
that they have is *actually* a prob with the PC, or just with the
way it's being used (or with their expectations about what it can do
& how it should do things)

Doesn't that just mean that the (ReChargeable) Battery is Charging
up OK?
You (she) would need to Read the Manual, for the Laptop (or look on
the Manufacturer's Website) to check/confirm that.

I am almost sure that it is the battery recharging, see my reply to Mike ^
there.
She did not have a manual for the laptop, I will look on the website.
Thank you pmj.
