Not a problem, but does anyone know approximately how long an Epson Stylus
inkjet printer will survive in storage without it's print head nozzles
getting clogged up with dried ink. It's just that mine has been switched
off for about a month and when I fired it up this morning I was surprised to
see that the nozzle check recorded no blocked nozzles.

i think if you tried for 2 months you would push your luck. I think you
are a bit fortunate at 1 mnth but a variable could be the type of inks
eg. if people use compatible inks, and it might vary across different
makes of printer. Personally at 1 month i would be a bit on edge :)

I suddenly remembered that it wasn't switched on Len - that's why I almost
panicked. I usually keep it switched on with the printer on/off switch so
that when I switch on the power to the pooter extension (daily) it fires up
and usually goes through a short cleaning cycle.

No idea, but I am on my second HP printer now, had the first one for years
and print so rarely I never changed the cartridge! It would be switched
off and unused or months on end but was never a problem when I did want to
print anything.

You were lucky.
I (or rather jbex) had one go unused for 6 months - the black recovered, but
the colour never jbexrq again.

I'll bear that in mind Ali. Did you use a special cleaning cartridgfe to
try and free up the colour nozzles? I have now successfully used them on a
couple of occasions in the past.

No, this was about 8 years ago, before I'd got an internet connection, and
the responses to enquired I made talked of replacement jets at more than the
cost of a new printer.

I found that CartridgeCo.co.uk sold cleaning cartridges way back. Although
they cost about £14 they are now resealable (some years ago they weren't)
and so can be used several times. I used one about 6 months ago and,
touch wood, all seems OK still.
