Old Grizzly...
If i have Digital TV through a dish and i want to get Analogue TV of
BBC1 is the only way to have a TV Aerial? if so then i shall forget it
as it seems a lot of fuss to get BBC1 Local News while the Commonwealth
Games take over BBC1. :)

shaz...
When do you want to watch the local news Len. On Sky Digital 971 - 988 are
the numbers for all the local BBC1 areas. The local news is on at 6.30.

aa...
There's beena lot of hooha in uk.tech.broadcast and uk.tech.digital-tv about
this. I guess you're referring to local news in the morning as I believe
that at lunchtime and in the evening it is carried on digital BBC1.
Basically, the only way to see the morning local news on BBC1 is via the
analogue transmission, which would usually require an appropriate aerial.
Depending on how close you are to the transmitter and how strong the signal

Old Grizzly...
yes thats the one. I think its totally wrong to push people to all this
trouble when they could have used other channels for the Athletics
transmissions. If you ring the number that they give as a help line,
instead of saying any of what you posted they ask if you want some
information posted. It shows that they know the 2 minutes or so you get
of local news in the morning is not worth bothering about.

aa...
Thought about trying BBC Local Radio? Ours (Radio Brizzle) is actually very
good.

is, you may however be able to get away with an indoor (portable) aerial or
even a coat hanger inserted into the aerial socket!
Good luck!

Ali...
AFAIK you can't get Local News on BBC1 in the morning while the Commonwealth
Games is on. It's on BBC2.

Old Grizzly...
The Breakfast program is on BBC2 but it does not include the local news,
instead it shows Newspapers headlines

JoeH...
I think Ali is right Len, the local news is on BBC2 *analogue*. The
digital service carries the newspaper headlines.

BBC2 regions on Sky are limited to BBC2 England, BBC2 Scotland, BBC2W
(Wales) and BBC2 N.Ireland.

Full list of regions for BBC1 & 2 on Sky follows. I sometimes watch
other regions' shows when the network splits for regional shows as
some of the North-East ones are not so good :-0

971 BBC 1 Scotland
972 BBC 1 Wales
973 BBC 1 N.Ireland
974 BBC 1 London
975 BBC 1 North East
976 BBC 1 Yorkshire
977 BBC 1 E Yorks & Lincs
978 BBC 1 North West
979 BBC 1 West Midlands
980 BBC 1 East Midlands
981 BBC 1 East (East)
982 BBC 1 East (West)
983 BBC 1 South East
984 BBC 1 South (So¢ton)
985 BBC 1 South (Oxford)
986 BBC 1 West
987 BBC 1 South West
988 BBC 1 Channel Islands
989 BBC 2 England
990 BBC 2 Scotland
991 BBC 2W (Wales)

Ali...
Local news is on analogue, which is what I watch. Every day last week just
before the opt-out a warning was given to re-tune to analogue, followed by
"and now, for those who *are* on analogue, here's the news where you are".

Old Grizzly...
but here we then see a review of the papers :-( because i am looking a t
BBC2 Digital

Ali...
Well, if you will go in for these new-fangled things they haven't ironed the
bugs out of yet.... :^)

Old Grizzly...
why is it that some things always disappear under the banner of progress
i wonder? ;-)

Ponder...
Well it won't be for long. Analogue has about 6 years left I believe.

Ali...
Just while the Commonweath Games are on (on BBC2).

Less in most places.

Ali...
The TyneTees area doesn't switch off until 2012.
By then technology should have advanced another generation or two, and I
could be retired (or jobless, depending on pov)

Ponder...
Nah. Retirement age will be 75 by then ;)

Ali...
Hey, it's only six years away, they don't get the women's retirement age up
to 65 until 2015.

And I won't hit 65 until then either.
