LOL you made get all nosey!
pmj...
|
LOL!!!
No, he didn't make you nosey!
:-)
You are naturally nosey!
:-)
Tickettyboo...
|
Bit of a silly question pmj, being as how we had just been on netmeeting
pmj...
|
No I don't think it was...
|
and you saw what I had been doing and the results.
pmj...
|
Oh!
Sorreee!
I don't expect (& didn't think) everybody (or anybody) else
Reading the Posts in this Newsgroup would necessarily have known
that, would they?...
So I thought it may be interesting (& or Helpful) for people
to know how that sort of thing can be done.
|
|
Though I prefer to think of it as "curiosity" & "inquisitiveness"
:-)
|
Now I have questions :-)
1 Do you 'really' want to whisper softly?
West Stand Bowler...
|
No, see above.
Tickettyboo...
|
LOL so I see, is that OEQuotefix then?
|
|
2 How techily confident / nosey are you?
West Stand Bowler...
|
Confident = 1/10
Nosey = 9/10
Tickettyboo...
|
only 9?? wow I am way ahead of you there, I score 21546/10 on the nosiness
stakes
|
|
3 Do you run more than one instance of windows on your pc?
pmj...
|
Ah...
I think I can see where this is going...
pmj...
|
I dunno how to swap around the MessageID & the From Details, so I
can't really Help you there...
:-(
But I *think* it's fairly easy to put bits of it on a NewLine?...
If you leave it all on the one Line (as it is by Default), then it
will get Split by OE across Lines when it Sends the Message, according
to the Line Length Setting in the Options
But you can Force it to Insert a NewLine Character, where ever
you want...
Doesn't it (ResHacker & the .DLL/.EXE Files) use "\n" for a NewLine
Character?
Yep - it does.
I just had a quick look.
:-)
In the String Tables in a PE (Win32 Portable Executable .DLL .EXE
.OCX etc,) File they use "\n" (that's BackSlash Lower Case n - without
the Quotes) for a NewLine.
|
:-)
|
West Stand Bowler...
|
No
Tickettyboo...
|
Okay, I do, cos I like a partition with another OS on in case I fiddle too
much and make one totally brokted
|
|
4 Do you draw the line at hacking into .dll files out of sheer idle
pmj...
|
There!
Curiosity!
That's what is needed!
:-)
|
curiosity?
West Stand Bowler...
|
Yes, I have no wish to upset this fine machine.
Tickettyboo...
|
Well, you have done what you seem to have wanted to without messing around
and I got to nosey around a few files -without making anything brokted so
we both dungood!
|
|
pmj...
|
BTW - if he's going to do what I think you are suggesting
(Editing the DLL Files which contain the Strings that show up
& which are Protected by windoze File Protection, so get Replaced
with the Originals, if you alter them from within windoze), you
don't actually have to have a Dual Boot Installation to do it...
Yes, that's one way of Editing & changing the Files, so they don't
get OverWritten, but you can quite easily do it without Dual Booting.
All you need to do is to have the nerve(?) to Kill the Running Explorer
Process (which is what looks after the Files & shows you the Desktop
etc,) then Copy your (Edited) Version of the DLL File over the Original
Version, (& also into the DLLCache Folder) then ReStart the Explorer
Process.
:-)
But yes, having a Dual Boot System lets you not only do that, but
also gives you the chance to make things Fixted (or more Brokted?)
when things go wrong!
:-)
& having a Dual Boot System, in itself, also offers endless
possibilities for various bits of Fiddling around & "curiosity"!
:-)
