I've downloaded it for a try when I get a round tuit. My scanner came with
OCR software but this might be better.Thank you.

I have been messing about with it since yesterday and have now - I
think - got the hang of it.

I had a couple of tries with a particular document and it would have been
quicker to enter the lot by hand. I'll try with some other less complicated
documents later ;)

Ok, this is from a book I've been meaning to read for a long time and
have now finally started (can I hear a cheer from someone?) ;)

Hooray :-)
Scanning from books is an issue, the paper needs to be flat and 2 pages
might cause confusion. Can you take the book apart?

No, but I've done the whole of Chapter 1 in 30 mins with a different OCR
program ;)

(sorry about the file size it's really a renamed bmp but I want to get
the scanned quality across and not have Firefox ask to open an external
program to view it!)
This is the uncorrected output:
I stand by what I said originally, it'd be quicker to enter the lot by
hand. Pity really :(

You can scan a sheet from within the prog and then select which areas
you want - handy for eliminating the banners and general clutter on
Web pages. Then you end up with the image as scanned in the top
window of a split screen and the created text in an editable window
underneath, with errors highlighted.
You can check the errors with the scanned image and alter/correct as
reqd. The usual type of errors - V for Y etc. and spelling the prog
does not recognise.
