Splodge...
Had my first experience of using this lovely BBC R4 feature tonight.

Troy's Human...
How have you lived without this feature ???

Splodge...
Pass!!!

pmj...
LOL!
Yep, it can be very useful, can't it?

So now I never have to miss The Archers again:))

Troy's Human...
I think Tom and Brenda are about to ..... (I'm not saying) :-))

Splodge...
Ah yes, s*x rears its ugly head again. Oh well, they need someone new to
replace Walter Gabriel don't they, so this must be the start of a new
breeding programme:))

pmj...
LOL!

My Parents (& also my Sister, who lives in Argentina) are people who
also like to regularly Listen to "The Archers", so I find that BBC
Radio 4 "Listen Again" thingy very useful.

& their "A to Z" Listing (which also allows you to Listen to a Programme
& to go to the Programme's WebSite) is useful as well...

Since my Sister lives in Argentina, it means she *could* actually
Listen to The Archers on her Computer (Apple Mac), either Live,
when it's Broadcast (Argentina is 3 Hours behind GMT) or using
the BBC's "Listen Again" Facility.

But she doesn't have an always on or UnMetered Internet Connection
& has to actually *Pay* for the Time that she's Online, so that would
get a bit expensive for her.

So what I do is I Download & Save the .RA (Real Audio) Files for the
whole Week's Episodes - (along with the Omnibus Edition) from the BBC
Site using Streambox - that's 6 x 1/4 Hour Episodes & 1 x Hour & 1/4
Omnibus Edition,

The whole Bundle of a Week's Files adds up to about 55 MB, (for about
2 & 3/4 Hours of Programs), but with a 4mbps Cable Modem Whooosher
Broadband Internet Connection (with a Download Speed of about 500
KB/Sec) it only takes just under 2 *Minutes* to Download the whole
2 & 3/4 Hours of Programmes for the whole Week!
:-)

That's really neat!

I then Burn them (the .RA Real Audio Files) to a CD every so often
& Post the CD to her.
:-)

So she can Listen to The Archers over there in Argentina.

Splodge...
Oooh, what a lovely brother you are pmj. She's a very lucky girl to have you
doing that for her. It's a neat way of doing it too.

I have my own way of solving the problem while I'm away on my travels. I
have a friend who jots down the juicy bits and then she reports back on the
phone.

Now I've tried it once, I might listen to plays I've missed too. All this
modern technology takes a long time to catch up with me - or should that be
the other way round?:))

Splodge (on her way to bed)

I. Noddie-Doff...
first episode of The Archers, and on through the years, missing outmonths
here and there.. Joined the supporters, got the tee-shirt (well, the
sweat-shirt act'lly) the
newspaper for quite a while, odds and bits, The book, etc. Met a prominent
long-serving character..was about to meet another. Now how much devotion can
one allege to this?? The whole thing's changed a lot, over the years.
Hardly listen any more. Come back Dan and Doris et al.
Marg. ;o)))

Splodge...
So now we're a Menage a Trois, Marg - you, Troy's Human and me - verrrry
interesting:))

heard the Archers for years.
Have a nice day what everyou are doing ;-)))))

Splodge...
Good Morning Noreen. It's absolutely beautiful here. Lots of sunshine, dry
and looking like summer - except for all the layers of sweaters I've just
put on:))
Have a good day, and don't behave yourself too much!
