No...Never..Anita !... I set out to come when I was only 18 years
old.....But after leaving our fair shores and going to NZ...I ended up after
1 year coming back to Oz again..as my Mother was quite ill !...Was I was in

I was like you but in reverse letting the opportunity to come to
Australia slip from my grasp. Many many moons ago I was set to do an
exchange with a girl from Sydney - she would work in England for a year
and live with my family and I would work in Sydney for a year and live
with her family. That was the offer put in front of me but it would
have meant cancelling wedding plans and putting them on hold for a year
and my then boyfriend didn't want me to go so I decided to stay here and
get married.
Sometimes I wonder what if - but the marriage has survived 43 years, 4
children and 5 grandchildren so I guess I made the right decision

NZ I started to become very interested in 'Christian' things ,, I started
off going to a different Church here in Sydney and a little later met my
late wife ..Helen...When we became 'engaged' I said to her I wanted to
still go overseas to England before we started a family Well...After we
were married..and I made 'bookings' to go overseas..I had to contend with a
period of some 3 weeks of crying on my Helen;s part ..she didn't want to
leave her parents here and go overseas !...So I was a frustrated 'traveller'
!

We Married in 1965..and had our first child in 1968..and moved into our 1st
house (we had built) in 1969...My wife then said she would like to go ..I
said not yet at that stage !...Anyway..Life went on and we moved into

another house we had built (The Present one) in 1973..Well we had 2 more
Children in 1982 and 1984..and she became sick in 1987 and died in 1988...I
was a Single Parent who had to retire from work as I had no one to help
raise my Kids ..My oldest Daughter was working then !...

I had thought of renting out my house and moving to England for a year or
more..But there were too many 'obstacles' then in the way ...So I am a
'Frustrated' man of 66 and never been to the land of my ancestors !.. Of
Course...At my time of life and financial position..I couldn't afford the
costs of staying anywhere now..So..You ask if I have ever been there
...Anita..That is the reason why !.. :-))

That is so sad, Barry and of course you would not want to leave your
children and grand children now. What would the little one do without her
grand dad around?
