Troy's Human...
I emailed my MP last night to complain about my local police/council's
refusal to take action about a neighbour's *very* noisy all night party in
their garden.

noreen...
Good for you TH lets hope she gets something done for you ;-)))

Surprise surprise - a got a reply this morning.

BunnyHare...
That is good news TH I hope that she, with help from you and your
neighbours (the quiet ones) can manage to sort something

I've snipped some of it but this is basically what she says :-

"Thank you for your message. I'm sorry that you have had to suffer in this

Tyke...
Wahaaayy!!!!!

An MP that listens and is actually involved in the area of your complaint.

I really note the "willingness" bit.

Looks like you have help there TH.

way.

I'm also sorry that NE Lincolnshire Council do not seem to be using the
powers that are available to them under the Anti-Social Behaviour Act (and
not for the first time either).

As one of the MPs who took this act through Parliament, I know that there
is an entire section about noise nuisance. I have added that section of the
act below for your reference. Although written in parliamentary language,
in essence it means that Environmental Health Officers can act to tackle
noise nuisances and can issue on the spot fines as a penalty. I know that
other councils are using these powers to good effect. Our problem is our
council's WILLINGNESS to use those powers.

Do you want me to take up this issue with NE Lincs Council for you to
remind them that they do have the power to act to help people like you who
are being plagued with noise nuisances?"

Rabbit...
And did you ask her to do it?

Troy's Human...
See my reply to FN.

How about that - I might just be getting somewhere :-) Seems I'm not alone
in thinking our local council are rubbish ! BTW - her name is Shona
McIsaacs and I think I might just be voting for her next time :-)

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°5 +...
Sounds a great response to me. I presume you will be mailing her back to
say *yes* you do want her to take up the issue. Also I trust that when

Troy's Human...
Probably - see below.

your other neighbours who are affected see her reply, they also will be
willing to add their voces to yours.

Troy's Human...
I hope so. Trouble is I gave up when I thought we'd get no assistance -
I'll need to contact people again. Whatever happens I'll ask the MP to go
ahead and tell the council what they should be doing so that the next time
it happens (it will) they'll take action straight away.

Rabbit...
Mrs Nextdoor asked me the other week for the name of our MP and MSP, I had
to Google for it, shows how much he/she ( one of each) do for us.

Troy's Human...

Splodge...
Gosh, an MP that's actually doing something - that can only be good news.

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°5 +...
Don't get carried away Splodge - she's only replied to an email so far. :(

Splodge
I forgot to say - our MP is Scottish.

Rabbit...
Well if you want the best........... ;-)

Ali...
I thought I didn't take much notice of politicians, but following your post,
i reeled off the name of my MP, her predecessor, the MP's in the two
adjoining constituencies, and four beyond that, including a former Tory
leader, and the soon-to-be former New-Labour leader. No idea who my MEP is,
though, or who took over from Mandelson, who should also be in that list of
nearby MPs.

Bram...
Hurray for common sense TH.

Aries on Nova...
that's a good result then TH and good on ya for following up your very
valid noise complaint. I would certainly be voting for that lady if she
was my parliamentary candidate!
