Billy Shears...
The sun is shining delightfully, so I'm off to trim my shaggy privet
hedge. I normally do it each June and September, but this year I seem to
have slipped a bit.

Is it too late in the year to do it now, as the old boys around here say
privets thrive on abuse?

Additionally, can anyone tell me why odd bits of my privet have turned a
very pale yellow, almost white, for the first time in the 20-odd years I
have been here? Someone told me it could be summer scorching.

Saxman...
They are pretty helpful here.

Billy Shears...
Thanks for that.

The experts there confirm that I can hack and slash to my heart's
content and I won't do any serious harm. I actually made do with a
gentle trim...I'll save the industrial stuff for next Spring.

Still don't know why some of the green leaves have turned yellow/white
though.

Foxy at w*rk...
Sorry I can't helkp much Billy, but when I used to have privets I used to
give them theit last cut late October and cut them back quite a bit, they
never suffered.

Pleased to meet you btw

It could be a sign it's getting old, Billy.
