Stephen Baker...
Did you resolve your Dell panel problems?

Troy's Human...
Not yet :-(

The chap from Dell has taken the matter higher. He phoned me yesterday
morning just to let me know that he's still waiting and will let me know as
soon as he hears anything.

Stephen Baker...
Any news?

Troy's Human...
Yes :-( Dell got back to me and agreed that the monitor *is* much brighter
than a normal monitor *but* it was designed that way and there's nothing
wrong with it. I said again that I'm not happy and that the monitor is
virtually unusable. They said they'll get customer care to call me -
there's nothing more the tech dept. can do. I await a call ......

I've got mine (1907FP) set-up as follows

Gamma @ .61
Brightness@ -73
Contrast @ 139

Troy's Human...
Mine as follows :-

Gamma @ 1.00 (my only setting left at the default)
Brightness @ -100
Contrast @ 64

With OSD Brightness @ 65

With the OSD Colour Settings @ Red 90 Green 91 & Blue 90

Troy's Human...
I've changed to the VGA connection as the Contrast setting is not available
using DVI

OSD Brightness @ 0 (zero)
OSD Contrast @ 44

OSD Colour settings @ Red 72 Green 80 & Blue 72

Drastic or what ?

Still having problems with my eyes and using eye drops (I'm not joking).
Never had any eye problems in the past and have been using computer
monitors for *many* years.

Stephen Baker...
Have you considered asking them to swap it out for a 19" CRT or is desk
space a problem. Or it might be worth looking at Freecycle for your area
picking up a CRT and using the LCD as a backup or sell it on EBay to
cover the cost of your eydrops, or sell it on EBay and buy a Samsung or
GS panel.

Troy's Human...
Thanks for the suggestions Stephen but I don't want another CRT. Whole
point of getting a new PC was because of the LCD. I need the space.

Have used other LCDs without this problem :-(

I am certainly not alone - others have the same brightness problem with
this monitor. Just wish Dell would listen to us .......

With Another Somber Sunset as the Wallpaper ~

Jackie...
Lovely Wallpaper Stephen!

I'm using the monitor but I've had to change so many settings to read text
without going blind that it's almost useless for images and the like :-(
