Aries whispered softly in my ear...:

Yep & windoze (Internet Explorer) has a (User Selectable) Option,
to also do something similar to that.

In the Internet Options, on the Security Tab, have a look at the
Settings...
About 2/3 of the way down the great big long Confuzzling List of
Settings (which I'm sure very few people ever really understand),
in the "Miscellaneaous" bit is this Setting...

Open Files based on Content, not Extension.

The problem is, that not all *legitimtae* Files actually have
the correct File Extension, so in some cases you do have to allow
the Operating System to try & suss out what it really is.

Rotten, innit? Someone, somewhere will try to take advantage to do as much
harm as they can, especially as the news people have now advertised the

pmj...
I think there are various pros & cons to that approach?

Many people say that any (& all!) Vulnerabilities that are found
*need* to be well publicised - as widely as possible.

If anybody wants to do various malicious things, there are *plenty*
of ways they can already find out about all sorts of things.

So making Vulnerabilities Public doesn't really help the *Malicious*
people...

But it may well help ordinary people realise the sort of things they
have to be aware of & protect themselves against.
