Splodge...
Page down the list on the left and you can chuck out all your reference

Jackie...
Thjat looks very interesting Splodge, thanks.

Having found three obvious errors on the list of old British coins,
trust any of the information without cross-checking.

pandamonium...
Those were the answers I came up with but I didn't see that page earlier. I
looked up old coinage on web-search. What were the errors you found?

Ali...
Eight crowns to a pound - should be four - half-crowns (much more common)
were 8 to the pound.

A tanner (6d) was 2.5p (and remained in circulation as such for a long
time) not 2.49999p

Threepenny bit was 1.25p not 1.24999p

OK, those last two are just rounding errors, but how did he make them,
especially as he has two tanners = i shilling = 5p

pandamonium...
I just did the old money quiz on there. I had to cheat and look things up
as I didn't know all of the terms in use back then. I mean I wasn't even
born! There are some groaners in there. Especially numbers 7 and 8!

Ali...
Most of that quiz goes back to when £sd was the only money we knew.

Never seen number 7 before though.

pandamonium...
It's one of the ones I actually can remember! I think it was abolished in
1976 or 1978 or something. I think that clue was written by a Cockney, or
someone who couldn't pronounce 'H' anyway.

Gareth...
Nah, it doesn't list the Nobel Prize winners. ;-)

I do four crosswords every Sunday morning and have put Wikipedia in my
'Links' toolbar which seems to give me most of what I need.
