My Father is going through a cateract operation on monday, Does anyone have
any ideas how to ease any discomfort het is likely to feel afterwards ? He
had a tear duct op last year and he reacted badly to it.. mainly he didnt
leave it alone to heal itself fully. So any advice would be great. TIA

Ted (my other half) had a cataract op. last year about this time and had no
discomfort after it, you are given drops to use for a week or so, he also
had an eye shield to wear at night for a few days. He is very sensitive
about his eyes and had a tear duct op quite a few years ago. Perhaps it
would be wise to let the staff know about his earlier problems.
The reaction usually is just how clearly you can see after it.
Best wishes for Monday.

My 84 year old friend has had cataracts removed from both eyes in the last
couple of years. No discomfort, except him having to apply drops for
several days afterwards. He lives on his own so was having to cope within a
few hours, but had no trouble. He also was back driving very soon after
both ops. Mind you he had his ops done privately - don't think that should
make a difference though.

Well today was the day after the op.. they did take ages though. so I took
him home a tired and sore man. He followed the instructions and the dressing
was removed today and he feels a lot better. He did say that he had a bit of
double vision for a while today.. so hopefully it will all sort itself out
:-))

Morning Pingu all he has to do is make sure he puts the dropsa inat least 4
times a day , that does ease any discomfort
he might have. There is not a lot of discomfort ,and when he can see better
I am sure he will be fine;-))))

That is very reassuring :-))

problem ;-))))

The one prob he had last year, was that he wouldnt leave it alone! Kept
stuffing toilet roll up nostrils to remove dried blood frommthe op, thuss
opening it up again and slowing the healinhg down. :-(
