Who was it told me that they had a problem with playing dvd's that they had
put labels on ?

Frogman...
There is a very interesting article here on the subject of labels,

linedancer...
Thank's Frogman, very interesting
I guess I have just wasted my money :-(
I must warn the friend who told me about the Neato labelling system, he has
dozens of home movies with labels on them.

Anita...
After reading that I am pleased that I never use labels but use instead
the special marker pens.

Frogman...
Yes my views exactly :-)

Faolan...
Get a printer than prints directly to CD, it's what I do... Looks more
professional as well ;)

Some Canon printers have the option as do some Epsons, personal
preference is for the Canon printers.

linedancer...
My Canon i865 can do that, maybe I should try to do it then.

MCC...
You need special 'printable' CDs, Pat.
Don't try it on ordinary CDs

BoyPete...
That's what I do with my Canon. Saves all that fiddling :)

linedancer...
Wish I'd thought about that before bought 100 Neato labels :-(

I have a feeling that it was John the RT
What exactly did it do ?
I ask because a dvd that I put a label on is sort of stopping and starting
and missing bits, Jack has waggled all the wires and taped the plugs down to
secure them, that seemed to cure it for a while, then it did it again, I
have burned another DVD of it and that seems to play ok.

Anita...
It is a good idea not to put a label on a CD or DVD - as you have
discovered it can, if you are unlucky, affect the playing. On the
otherhand it might just have been a faulty dvd.
I write on my with the special pens you can buy for the purpose.

linedancer...
My labels look lovely though Anita, I have perfected the art of playing the
dvd on my pooter, pausing it where I think it will look good, then taking
snapshots, I then try them in the Neato Proggy to see which loooks best on
the label.

But if it has affected the playing I might have to stop doing that, although
it's only one of them that's like that.

JoeH...
Here are a couple of threads on the pros & cons of sticky labels on DVDs.

That's me LOL

I have a feeling that putting the label on the wrong side can be an issue

linedancer...
Possibly ;-)

:-)

Otherwise I suppose it's possible a label covering the whole CD/DVD might

linedancer...
Well it didn't cover the whole of it, there is still the core in the middle
free.

unbalance it?
