Done it!!
After much dithering, waffleing, advice seeking (must thank all who helped
for their knowledge and patience) sleeping on it and whatever else:: I
have actually placed the order, so in 7 -10 working days the delivery man
should be here with a brand new Dell 9150.:-)))
Steve...
Bet you it will be despatched from Dell tomorrow.
donut...
Don't know Steve they say 3 days to check the Credit card - I cannot see why
it should.
Steve...
They will want to ship as much as they can before the close of the
financial year. I placed my order on a Thursday evening in Feb order
shipped from factory Friday mid afternoon, call late Friday from courier
arranging delivery following Tuesday evening, arrived 7:30am Tuesday
donut...
Now that was quick.
arrived 7:30am Tuesday
morning (Valentines Day).
donut...
Hope you were out of bed!.
Rabbit...
Yeah right!!! Can you imagine the chaos that would cause at ASDA/TESCO/IKEA
checkout if it took three days to check a CC ? Or if we must stick to *card
not present* transactions it doesn't take Amazon etc that length of time.
donut...
Just what I thought Sandra - it has not taken more than a couple of secs. to
be accepted by any firm I have dealt with and I do quite a bit of on line
shopping now. However we shall see.

Troy's Human...

Pleased to hear it :-) Hope it turns out to be what you want.
Mine took less than 7 - 10 days to be delivered (less than a week from
memory). They'll phone you to tell you which day.
donut...
Would be nice if it did come sooner but it does not bother me to wait.
Didn't realise they phoned with a date - that's good.
I hope it turns out OK too TH.
Now I suppose I shall have to start saving stuff from here!!
BunnyHare...
Great, look forward to the "birth" announcement in due course
donut...
Aries...

Congratulations Donut, bet you can't wait :D
donut...
I am looking forward to getting one which doesn't keep hanging on me and I
understand Win 98SE tends to do that - well then I have got the worst in the
bunch.

Tickettyboo...
yep, so have a good look round your poota. Decide what there is that you
would need on the other one..stuff like mail, favourites, files, programs,
photos etc that you have on there. Then we can set about helping you to
save them to disc ready to go on to the new sopper dopper poota
Over the next couple of days, see what you actually use on your pc, then
look and see what you have saved on it. That is what you will need to
transfer

Are you going to netw*rk your old computer with the new one donut? I've
done that so I can still use some old software on 98SE. I''ve set them up
with a KVM switch so that I only need one monitor, keyboard and mouse. The
98SE tower sits on the floor under the table next to a filing cabinet and
well away from my feet. The 3 HDDs I have in the 98SE machine are great for
backing up stuff and readily accessible through either pooter.
donut...
Be an idea FN - I may do that. Have the tower for this one on the floor
but was thinking I would remove some shelves from the storage space on the
side of the desk and put the new tower there. May come back to you for
more info.

And a session in the bike sheds may help too.

Is the door still open?

Tickets on sale at the usual outlet :-)

Only if you have the correct key. :)

Have probably lost it.

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...

I think we can all probably say that at some time. ;)

Will do that - I know there is stuff I could well live without. I have
discs for the progs. so they should be OK.
Yeah Barb - just look out for the screams of heellllpppp.- :-)))

*And* having a spring clean - dear knows what's behind this humongeous
monitor.
Looks like spaghetti junction behind the desk but I don't suppose there will
be fewer wires when it's 'all changed.'
Foxy at w**k...
And doesn't it all collect dust donut
donut...
Yes Jen - where does it come from.
donut
Rabbit...
You mean you don't go back there with a duster every day ? Like wot I do
along with the back of my telly ;-)
Foxy at w**k...
Ohhhhhh Sandra what a good girl you are lol
I am afraid I am not that good at all ;-)
Rabbit...
Sheesh you will be telling me next you don't tidy cupboards and drawers
Rabbit...
Enjoy your new pooter when it arrives. As for the cables in my local pound
shop [1] I got a thing ( length of plastic ) for keeping cables tidy and I
think it's great, they don't now all tie themselves around each other now.
[1] I have seen them elsewhere, exactly the same but priced up to £9.99
donut...
Bet the Metro Pound Shop won't have them!! - is it a flat one or one of
those twisted things?, I think the TV is even worse all ours are about 2
Rabbit...
It's hard to describe. A sort of plastic tube with slots and you get a
gadget thing to help feed the cables into it.
mtrs. long and best part of the length coiled up on the floor I wonder why
they don't make some shorter cables which we could opt to buy.
donut

Steve...

every day too ;-)
Foxy at w**k...
Oh no just every weekend............Jen crosses her fingers behind her back
Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
I reckon that makes two of you then. ;)
donut...
Nah - the knees don't let me get up and down so easily these days - you see
you are younger than me! :-) that's why you wield the duster so regularly
Rabbit...
Oh the back of my telly isn't too bad ATM but that's only cause I recently
cable tied all the cables to be as short as possible. Given time though they
will tangle :-(
donut
Steve...
that's exactly what I do.
Foxy at w**k...
Do we have two fibbers here then ;-)
Steve...
No, honest Jen every day, that's what the Army did to me.
Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Ah! But which weekend? :)
Rabbit...
You don't fancy paying a visit here do you ???? I'll provide all the
tea/coffee you need and biccies too. I'll even provide the dusters :-)
Steve...
I'm expensive to run, only fresh ground coffee and the Pledge dust thing's.
Rabbit...
I'd personally grind the coffee. I'm not so keen on the Pledge dust thingies
but I'd make that sacrifice :-) Can I book you for about April ? That's when
Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
That'd be the 1st then, would it? :)
I'm due to find the corners in here :-)
PS If you are coming from Cork I'm handy for ferries and airports :-)
Foxy at w**k...
Do you want to come and live at our house :-)
Rabbit...
< me shoves Jen out the way > I'm first in the queue :-)
Foxy at w**k...
Now Sandra ......just for once *I* was first ...........pushes back
Rabbit...
Oh fighting talk. Handbags at dawn ???:-)
Foxy at w**k...
Oooooo no I'm frightened you can have him. He sounds expensive anyway lol
Rabbit...
Oh sheesh you gave in too easy, I'd probably still be in bed at dawn :-)
Rabbit...
So's George Clooney but he'd be worth it ;-)
Foxy at w**k...
lol........I'm off home now
Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
You're never up *that* early. ;)
Rabbit...
Not unless it's high summer and I'm going to bed :-)
Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
I see you're off on one again. LOL
Rabbit...
Shhh Donut, don't tell anybody but I fibbed :-) I basically live in a round
house except for about twice a year when I discover there are actually
corners full of dust ;-)
Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Yep I found one of those yesterday. :(
Rabbit...
A girl can dream :-)
Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Obviously!!! I hope that's a talent you never lose. :)
Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
I haven't enough time for all that. Can't think what I could cancel doing
to make the time to dust behind my TVs and pooters every day.
