Splodge...
I've opened up a can or worms today. As the More Than credit card is being
withdrawn this week, I applied for a card with GE Money last week and got
turned down. That will teach me to move house lol. Today I've got my online
credit rating with Experian and it's 813 out of 1,000, so bummocks and rude
words being said here. (I thought it would be 1,000 out of 1,000, said she,
modestly)

After advice from Experian, I've just completed an online "Financial
Disassociation" form to separate myself from my DH, but I know he doesn't
have any debts. Perhaps the geographical disassociation is easier than the
financial one:)))

Steve...
Excuse my ignorance but what's a DH?

Splodge...
The polite wording is "Dear Husband", but some people would attribute
something else to it:)))

Steve...
DH? DH? DH? Oh! I understand, something to do with Richards skull.

Things used to be so uncomplicated, or is it me?

andon...

Splodge...
Wish that were true, but it's not. Pity, cos it would have been nice for him
to pay for my holiday:)))

misunderstanding I think. I'll try and re-phrase.
Unbeknown to you as an individual, and as a separate individual DH
has taken a large loan. Because rating still link the two of you as
One Unit, you can't get further credit. ????
Is it you or your address that is the cause of this rating?
If you move to an address that has been blacklisted because of
previous residents you can find major problems.
We once bought a house that had been repossessed. The previous owners
had also run up debts with every mail-order firm that they could
discover. It took us a fair game to convince the "world" that we were
still worthy of our 10:10 rating. Back then it took lots of
individual letter writing. It is easier now than before. I bet that
it is still a major pain. Good luck. Keep at it. At least you are
going the right way.

Splodge...
No, andon, the chap at Experian didn't have anything listed for the previous

Splodge...
No, I know for a fact that he hasn't taken out a loan. Trust me on this:)))

But you might be the last to know Splodge. ;)

pmj...
LOL!
:-)

Or actually...
:-(

I know someone (a near neighbour) whose Wife departed (died actually,
from an Illness - not just upped & left or walked out/divorced)
& it was only when they (he & the family & solicitors etc,) were
sorting through her stuff, that they found she had actually run up
a fair number of (large) outstanding Debts to various firms!!!
:-(

It was a real surprise/shock/disappointment to them all (he nearly
lost the House because of it) & the *last* thing they wanted to find
out about, given the circumstances.
:-(

That's terrible pmj. I think I'll go for a lie down and kip after reading
that. Nighty night everyone.

owner, who died in April 05 anyway. He thinks the disassociation clearance
will work, but I never knew all these sorts of things happened, and needed
to be done.

I sometimes think the credit card companies don't want people who pay their
bill every month by DD as they don't make any money out of them:))

Madge...
Hi Splodge - I had exactly the same experience as Andon (re-posessed house /
bargain [ish] etc etc....)
But I also wonder if you have a point re paying your bills every month. I
do the same and have found that companies who write offering me wonderful
deals with credit transfer soon lose interest when they know I pay my bills
off!
Still, that really should be a plus when it comes to credit
ratings.......did you ask *why* you had been turned down?

Splodge...
Yes, I did, and he said there was nothing on my file that he would be
worried about. He suggested the disassociation thingy would solve the
"problem", although I'm sure it's my move that's caused it. They've ignored
17 years at my previous address and 18 years with the same employer too.

Nothing surprises me any more, Madge, but I just hanker for an easy life.
Getting credit shouldn't be this complicated:))

Flying Rat...
remember that every time someone does a credit search on you, it gets
reorded and that knocks down your score too.

Splodge...
Yes, I know Ratty cos it was on the Experian website. If I can't get this

andon...
Excellent and very valid point Ratty.

new card I'll stick with my Morgan Stanley one.
