Pubs... I don't think we have quite the equivalent of
"pubs" here in the USA. We have restaurants and bars,

Rabbit...
The term *pub* was used in Colorado. That was before my friend moved to
Florida so it was many years ago. I admit I was surprised when she said they
were going to the pub for a meal then 'cos I didn't think it was a term used

~~seadancer~~...
They may call them "pubs" here, but I have a feeling that
they probably don't have the same flavor as British pubs.
I don't know how I know that, but that's my impression.
Years ago, was it acceptable for a group of women go
into a pub unescorted? I've always been a bit jealous of
men because they could go into a bar or pub to socialize,
but a woman needed an escort to be considered "proper".
IMO, she still does, if she's going to sit at the bar, otherwise
she may be suspected of being a 'lady of the evening' or
at least 'cheap'. I like the idea of sitting at a bar and chatting
with the other folks at the bar, but I do it only with my husband,
and only at special bars inside my favorite restaurants.

there either.

but I don't think they have the same connotation as pubs.
I like the idea of a pub... a place to gather for sociality.
Our bars are more of a place to go "drink" and the
restaurants are a place to go "eat". But the idea of going
to a place to eat and drink for sociality seems to be
the connotation of the word "pub". Am I right?
(Will check in after I get back from the weekend.)

Sorry about today, but I was there in spirit if not in body. Hope you all

Joe...
Yes I'm sorry we couldn't make it either. I've been there by phone and text
though. LOL

I've been sent two phone-photos by Toyboy but can't upload then to my
webspace as it says "550 (Filename) no space left on device"

Anyone else with plusnet webspace having problems?

Aries...
yep, as I just replied to you in the pub - I had that message a couple of
days ago too and because of that I deleted a lot of my webs :( :(

Joe...
Oh dear, do you still have the files locally?

Aries...
all the important ones I have - stored on my external hard drive :)

Joe...
Oh good-oh!
