Conspiracy theorists will have a field day, but, as one comment says, at
this rate Vista will be nothing more than XP SP3. Or maybe just SP2 and
a bit and a couple of hundred quid.
The largest software company on the planet cannot, or will not,
implement new technology.

Interesting, there is an 'EFI' directory in beta 2.

They seem to have changed their mind, don't they?

I wonder what it would take for Apple to make OS X available for non
Mac machines...

A monumental policy change and a dip in the profts from the coffee
machine.

Had a good example today of the prudence of limiting the h/w for an OS.
I couldn't get my main desktop to feed MP3's to my Pinnacle Show Center
[sic] - it seems there is a problem with the nVidia NForce4 chipset.
Spent the whole day building a machine around a Chaintech main board, a
physical build, transferring bits and installing XP (twice).
Streams MP3's fine, came to install Virtual CD and got a heap of
BSOD's, just won't install :-(
Think I'll give Apple a few months and see how their Intel stuff
works...

This was Slashdotted today
C|Net is pitting the new Intel Core Duo Mac Mini against Microsoft Media
Center. The first round of the fight concludes: 'The Mac Mini
automatically recognised the LCD TV we're using, and the third-party
tuner was similarly straightforward to set up. Compared to the hours
we've spent coaxing similar results out of a Microsoft Media Center
system, the Mini is definitely ahead so far.'"

Eggsactly what I was going to say...... well it would have been if I could
have understood it all :-) I'll guess though 'cos I can remember once
watching a TV programme about the * great, new, perfect* OS that MS were
producing and that was called XP :-)
